I've been to the shows at Nissan the past 2 years.......
2006 - Temps over 100 degrees, humidity off the chart.
2007 - Hot again, but not quite as bad as 2006, then the storms forecast all day finally arrived.........just as the concert started.
Hopefully when Air Margaritaville touches down in 2008 the weather will be a bit more kind to the Parrothead Nation........but then again, it is Virginia in the summertime!!!!!
I will say that the legendary traffic congestion at Nissan, for whatever reason, was much more tolerable last year both coming in and leaving after the show.......
we got there early this year and managed to get a really good parking place. Of course we hang out in the parking lot waiting for the traffic to clear-- the cops have chased us out twice LOL last year was a lot of fun though my friends got soaked!
Yea...2005 was a beautiful June night....2006 was Hot Hot Hot and 2007 it rained during the show.....
I'll take whatever we get in 2008.....
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"
Jimmy! Come back to Merriweather Post! Skip Nissan if you have to!
We were so spoiled here in the D.C. metro area for so many years. Two sometimes three shows at Merriweather Post AND 2 shows at Nissan every year. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that Nissan Pavilion remains a definitive stop every year, but I really miss those Merriweather Post Pavilion shows.
Ok. Can someone tell me when the gates actually open at Nissan for tailgating? We have been going for years and years, but don't really leave Annapolis to head to the show until roughly 2:00 (the guys play golf in the morning and then we get the wives and go)....
But the last couple of years traffic has been over the top terrible on 66 and as a result, we get in the gates fairly late and get bad tailgate spots.
I thoughts they didn't open the gates until 3:00, but last year people kept saying they got there at like 12:00.
So, whoever knows from experience, what time can we get there and tailgate?????
Yup. They do open around 12, but you pay a premium parking fee of $20 to get in early, I think the $20 charge ends around 2 or 3. Well worth it if you ask me. The folks at Nissan Pavilion would be able to confirm this too.
For any haters out there, just be damn glad we've had a tour date in the DC area for this long. Take what you can get, 105 or rain. If you don't like it, then sell your ticket to somewhat that does!
Anxiously awaiting this years tour dates for sure. We already knew by this time last year...

I couldn't agree more!!! Although you can pack so many more into Nissan, the intimate feel and atmosphere at Merriweather is so much better. I miss the days of 2 Nissan and 2 Merriweather shows in a summer.
★ Maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do, it's the child in us we really value.

We live only 30 minutes from Nissan so we go around 12:30 or 1, we haven't paid for parking....a friend gets VIP parking for free so we use that.
I'd leave Annapolis by midmorning....after rush hour. You can get there in plenty time to set up, tailgate and party before the concert. I'd save golf for a non-concert day.

I was under the impression that Meriweather was no longer an option. something about the neighbors not liking the traffic and the noise....

There were a few incidents.....
I'm going to be happy with what we get.....I think his days of doing 4 concerts in the DC area are over....
