Jimmy Buffett brings his trademark playfulness, simplicity, and originality to this tale, which is based on true events in the life of the book's illustrator, Helen Bransford. It is a classic story that will appeal to his fans and their children alike and make an irresistible holiday gift.trojan_sixtyone wrote:I like the new one better.
Didn't this whole thing start out with an idea this Bransford lady had, shared with Jimmy, and then he kind of "took over"? Maybe he had great ideas, maybe his name is just so marketable she was willing to play second fiddle...

I look forward to this book. I think it will be great.
Helen Bransford is a real nice lady.

Swine?
I prefer the old cover better. I think the pig is quite fetching in her pink wig. I guess they thought Jimmy's legs would sell more books....

I like the old one too. Putting Jimmy on the cover has me concerned that they are relying on his name recognition to sell the book, and the content may not be up to par. It seems especially odd given that this is intended for younger audiences who are less likely to recognize him. Now if the old one were to be the book cover, and the new one was the audiobook cover (with Jimmy narrating) that might make more sense.
I, like many of you, am a huge fan of the music, but I thought A Salty Piece of Land was desperately in need of an editor, and relied way too heavily on song references that were usually too literal or blatant. There was a good story there, but it got obscured by the sheer volume of the prose. Here's hoping that Swine is tighter.

As an editor, I would be willing to help Jimmy out whenever he wants.. for my usual fee, plus travel expenses, of course.
