We have about a month before heading down to Old Key West. That is where we own. Last year we were unable to get into OKW, so we had to settle for Saratoga Springs. Let me just say I was not pleased staying there. While at Disney I want to look out and see palm trees, not pine trees! To me, this was just not a true Disney vacation. The studios were small and cramped. We vowed to only stay at OKW! And yes, Jellyrolls is a must do! ESPN wings are not to be missed. Stayed at Caribbean Beach once and it was nice, but once you discover DVC and OKW, you won't want to stay in anything less.

You should try using your DVC for the Yacht and Beach club, my brother and his family do and its the only place they like to stay now. All the benefits of the boardwalk in a beach setting. I used DVC for the Boardwalk, the accomodations were great and I liked having all those things right there, good nightlife and places to eat, love the bakery there to for breakfast to bring back to the room.

We have pool-hopped over to Beach Club when the allowed it, but won't stay there. They cost more points and the rooms are a lot smaller. Just can't see giving up the peace and tranquility of OKW for the hustle and bustle of BC and BW. We are content staying at OKW.

I hate flying, and I am a nervous wreck the whole time I am in the air, but I will fly to Florida if it's for free. Yeah I know I will be with my parents, but it's free trip. I am sure there is a ton to do in Disney World and the area.
Best thing to do if you hate flying, put some headphones on,get a good book, and don't get a window seat [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif] and just think how much it will be worth it. btw I recommend chewing some gum because otherwise your ears might not pop and the pressure might hurt them.

I am curious tio hear others resort favs.
Caribbean Beach Resort - hated it. I hate the Disney bus system, so I prefer to be on the boat/monorail circuit
Yacht Club - Will never stay anywhere at Disney ever again. I'm now officially spoiled. 10 minute walk from Epcot, 15 minutes to the monorail if you have a Park Hopper and go through Epcot, and 15-20 minute walk to MG... I mean, *Disney* Studios.
The other times I've been I've stayed off property and hated doing so. Once I'm done for the day I don't want to fight traffic to get back to my hotel.

That said, I'm done with the Mouse for a few years. I did it three times in as many years and that was enough for me for a while. It's the OBX for this coastal boy.

Just back, we stayed outside the park, this time, free on Starwood points... but should point out the pool at Beach Club is under reconstruction just now.
We have stayed in Grand Floridian, Port Orleans, the former Disney Institute townhomes (think they are now timeshares) and Polynesian in the past, liked Grand Floridian the best. We will be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge in October.
We found it very lovely and uncrowded in late January, but it may have been just the time of year and it may have been the US economy.
Things in Orlando seemed pretty busy, but there was a huge PGA Convention in town at the same time, even staying out by Disney which is a ways from the Convention Center, so that could have had an effect.

Has anyone been to Jellyrolls @ Disney's Boardwalk lately? Do they still have the little dollar beers on Tuesday for Cast Member night?

I love Jellyrolls! Did not like going there on Tuesday night because of it being CM night. Not sure about the dollar beers as I am not a beer drinker!

We are heading to Disneyworld last two weeds of June, never been to Florida before so big trip for us.... Staying at Shades of Green first week then Regal Palms second week. Anyone stayed at either of these places?

Also any Parrothead related activities in Orlando around that time or places to catch some great TropRock musicians? We'll obviously catch Margaritaville, but anywhere else?

I am supposed to be going to Disney World around next christmas but I am not sure if it is going to happen or not now. My parents wanted to go and they where going to take me and pay for me. With the way the economy is they are not sure. My dad's job is solid but they lost money in some of there retirement plans with the drop in stocks. If they can afford to pay for themselves I would pay my own way if that helps. Who knows, plenty af time from now and then!

I cant wait to go back. We are going in May and staying at the Port Orleans FQ. I have stayed at the Animal Kingdon Lodge, as well as the Beach Club...... havent been there in almost 4 years, I CANT WAIT!!!!!

I know that at my agency we offer a day trip to Universal with round trip transfers included. You get passes to both Universal Parks, and the bus picks you up at your Disney hotel, and brings you back at the end of the night......... will be stopping in Margaritaville at Universal, Mears being my designated driver that night!!

We just booked our WDW trip at the Grand Floridian Hotel, we'll be there April 17th-21st. I just found out that the Ventures will be playing at the EPCOT garden Festival that weekend. I have always wanted to see them live. I am also looking forward to heading over to Margaritaville and having many Lone Palms & Margaritas, and of course Volcano Nachos.

Ah, most wonderful CGB! The Grand Flo is most beautiful, and you can just hop right on the monorail to the TTC, transfer to the Epcot monorail and off you go to the beautiful Flower & Garden show! Be sure to stroll over to the Poly to sample the Kona Longboard and Kona Pale Ale!

lilsalty, I shall indeed imbibe in Kona Longboard & Kona Pale ales at the Poly. It will be fun to stroll from the Grand Flo to the Poly. I see that Jellyrolls is quite popular, maybe we'll have to drop and and check out the scene.

For those of you that are interested, here is a link to the Jellyrolls MySpace page. Actually it is for the guys' cd, but the Jellyrolls schedule is on there. Ray and Scotty are the best! I did see it was only thru beginning of February, but I am sure they will update it.

Just trying to CPR this thing back to life after more than a year. Heading down there in Sept. Wondering if anyone could tell me where I can get my tropical drink on. Been 5 years since we have been there, and also wondering if anything since then is a must see. Thanks!
