This is one of the coolest threads I have read, and I read everything before posting! Some just too too funny ie: the Elephant vs Spandex!
I have been riding horses for well over 30 years, trained by a member on the USET team and was an alternate for the 96 games (trainer not me).
Owned my horse since 1989, he is 28 this spring.
Only dogs I have owned were Border Collies.
- Norman passed away this past August and he was my K9 partner, for a Search and Rescue Team 3 years; Jessie is 13 and doing well
I have been on searches for missing husbands (found at home), Alzheimer patients, children and eldery. The worst search was during Tornado warnings
I was an Investigator for the oldest Investigation firm to this day.
I am a Marketing/Membership Director for a private County Club outside of Pittsburgh.
I have worked most of my life in Events and across the country setting conventions.
Flown to East Africa by myself and slept in tents in the Tarangire and Serengeti - where I saw the Southern Cross. Flown to Germany to see the man of my dreams, what a fool I was-glad that did not work out!
My first airplane flight was at age 6 months.
The only mode of transportation I have not been on is Camel. Traveled all size planes, helicopter, train, boat: cruise, big paddle and sail, bus, car/truck, motorcycle, bike, horseback and elephant.
Owned a motorcyle that I sold - since I had hip surgery; I will need a total hip replacement, within a year.
oh - like horseyparrot I can Polka
and a tidbit, tie a cherry stem in a knot with my tongue

(as can mom!)

My wife thought I reminded her of TV's Mr. Rogers when she first met me 26 years ago (for some reason she thought he was 'hot'

)

I helped crew a 44' sailboat from Bermuda to Long Island. We hit a Force 9 gale in the Gulf Stream, complete with 20-30 foot seas, and were blown 300 miles toward England.

And somewhat profound...
Mister Rogers wrote:As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has—or ever will have—something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.

While on a class trip to NYC during my senior year of high school, I was propositioned on 42nd Street. By a man.
That right there was an eye-opening experience for a naive 17 year-old from Harrisburg, PA!

As a pre-teen, I can safely say I watched "Rad" in excess of 200 times. Sadly, it was my favorite movie and I was really into BMX.
Coincidentally, I recently used a quote from Rad in the "Name That Movie" thread.
I met Bart Conner at the White House Easter Egg Roll in the late 80's and told him how much I loved that movie. He seemed surprised that
anyone loved that movie.
I too still have a crush on Lori Loughlin.
I am amazed that more than one person on this board has actually even heard of that movie. I may have to break out the VHS and watch it tonight.

Excluding french fries, I wouldn't eat potatoes in any form until I was 15 years old.

I was the only girl in my town's Little League. As a center fielder I robbed the best player of a grand slam in the play offs. If I recall, I closed my eyes, held out my glove and said a prayer.

Even today I'd rather wear Levis than any other pair of pants/slacks, etc.
I broke my neck playing football
I was painfully shy around girls in high school
Mrs. TR is her high schools Sr. Princess and we just celebrated our 27th anniversary
Tonight I ate dinner and paid $6.00 for a Land Shark Lager at Margaritaville in Las Vegas

Who is Kaiser Bill, and why were you his Batman?
Kaiser Bill founded the Kaiser Motorcar Co.
A batman (or batwoman) is a soldier or airman assigned to a commissioned officer as a personal servant.
A popular German army song "Ich war der Putzer vom Kaiser" ("I was the Kaiser's batman") sung during World War I tells of a soldier who missed the horrors of service on the Western front by being the batman to Kaiser Wilhelm II. It was set to a contemporary tune for a whistling version in 1967, and released under the title "I was Kaiser Bill's Batman" in the United Kingdom and United States. The artist credited was "Whistling Jack Smith", whose real identity is still a matter of debate.
as I understand it is also a not too nice word. in some countrys..
England for one..
