Actually JB's kids have been to his shows several times, even when they were younger...

IMHO it totally depends on the kids and the parents and each situation is different.

Rookies... :P

Last weekend I left my house in RI at 4:30AM to drive to New Jersey for a show. :D

whimp :D I have about a 1:30-1:45 drive from WMass and I am going to be there by 7:30am... I think

come'on where is your mancard? get up earlier....

Okay...Guess I had that coming.

The Keets are the only hold up...I'll be up at 4:30 ironing my skirt anyway
Keets, as in dropping them off or getting them in the car to come with you? If dropping off, just sell your soul to grandparents, friends, whomever, so they'll take them at oh-dark-thirty. Bringing them? They'll think it's a great adventure to be up early. :D :D
No..not bringing the Keets...I am however making some progress on the grandparent babysitting front....

Well, its official my dad...the man who never worries about weather just bailed on tomorrow. I told him when we went in Philly when it rained, we started about a 200 person topless slip and slide with tent canopys in the parking lot ! !

But we have a 6 hour drive to Mansfield with GOOD weather, so it looks as though we are going to pass on this show. Luckily I made it to Jones Beach last week though.

For all of you making the trip...you make me proud to call myself a parrothead. Enjoy and we'll be listening on RM.

If anyone's looking for a place to stay, I just canceled my room at the Marriott in Franklin, right up the street. 2 bedrooms for about $200.00.

It seems you are right about Jimmy bringing his kids along on tour but apparently not for the reasons some would like to believe:

Well, your Dad bailed, and that's too bad, but can't you still come alone? (Because you're never alone at a JB show!)

Well, since the concert is earlier in the day, how about going to the bar at the Comfort Inn for a post party? Not the greatest thing but it is something to do, we can do the "inside tailgate" after the show...
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

You can't mess with Mother Nature. When it comes to a storm like Hanna everyone really should take it very seriously. That means having a plan before we arrive.

Here's mine:

Switching drink menu to bloody mary's due to early start....

At least for the first hour or so...
And as I grow older, there is so much that I do not know. I'm drawn to those who are bolder and go where no one dares to go...

Awesome. I guess we'll see what the deal is after the show.

You'll see the Comfort Inn on 140. Coming from Mansfield, if you see the Comfort Inn on your left, you went too far. You would need to make a u-turn and come back to Fisher Street

Took my 9 year old to Pitt in July, he came home with an autographed flip flop...in case I didn't tell you already. He was so jazzed-still tells people about it. He has also stopped keeping track of how many bad words JB says (in our house he can collect a quarter if he hears one from us) he said the flip-flop payed his debt! we are all going to tonights show and he didn't want to go to school today so he could stay home and help me pack the car, now that we have to leave today instead of tomorrow, there is no reasoning with hurricane season.
JB has also said more than once that he appreciates his fans passing his music onto our kids. Part of that includes the whole concert experience.
If you want to drink yourself silly and act like your back end then I'll keep my "keet" away from you so you can have a good time.

There definitely seemed to be an increased police presence, especially early, when the area to patrol was smaller. But tailgating went on absolutely as normal. They seemed to be watching pretty closely, but the crowd in our area was mostly <strike>older folks</strike>, er, more experienced fans  who are smart enough to use a cup and not flaunt the booze too much. I would suspect they were watching closely for underage drinking and drunken/disorderly but beyond that it was Great Woods as usual!
