We are considering renting a Winnebago for the weekend, how's parking at GW for them?
Plenty of room for a camper of any size. The only drawback, they park the RV's, buses & campers in the back lot. If you caravan in w/a bunch of cars, they will put you in different areas, away from each other. The solution, pack everybody into the RV.
Have emailed the crew that wants to go...think we may all drive down together in the Winnebago and get a room at the Comfort Inn or Holiday Inn express where we stayed last year for Gillette, so we'll have access to a real bathroom and showers. Of course that is if when we go to book the room they have no issues with us parking the RV outside. Hoping to know who's going by tomorrow and book the rooms.
Actually, there is a Holiday Inn closer to the pavilion in Mansfield. I'm staying there if I go.
I have stayed at that Holiday Inn a few times, it is nice and closer and has a tropical feel to it. The roadies used to stay there and may still do.
But they are charging $152 a night, for $50 cheaper I'll stay at the Comfort Inn, all I need is a bed and a shower..
You know, that is a good point. For those who want the Comfort Inn,

Debating between that and the Holiday Inn.

Not anywhere within at least 30 miles of Mansfield you wont. They all hike the prices when concerts are at GW, so book now before the official release comes out (probably Monday), because room prices will skyrocket.

With close to 50 shows at Great Woods over the years, what we should've done is gotten a group of 50 - 75 of us and bought a cheap house in Mansfield, MA. There are plenty of them out that way. Would have paid for itself by now . . . and when it is all said and done it could be sold for a profit.

If the house was still standing when we were done with it

Damn, you'll be in Vermont before you see those prices...you might want to look for a room mate an split costs

Hard to look for a roommatewhen you don't know if you're going and it might not be till August before you do know.

If anyone is considering booking a room I would do it.
You can always cancel it if you can't make it.
Once the shows are official the rooms will be booked solid within
a few days and the prices may even go up.
The 3 closest hotels I looked at today, the Red Roof Inn
is $129 a night, Comfort Inn is $96 a night and the
Holiday Inn is $152 a night. None of these hotels are
very big so they fill quick AND with it being wedding
season there are several places in that area that
host wedding so guest for that may be looking for
rooms. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn in Mansfield
2 separate times for a nearby wedding.
All 3 of these hotels are within 5-10 minutes
of Great Woods. The Comfort Inn is 3.5 miles away.
I bet within days of the official announcement all
3 hotels will be sold out.

I have a room with an extra bed in it but I have offered it to a friend of mine who said she doesn't know if she would be able to attend yet because the shows are after Labor Day.

That pesky job thing prevents me from being there on Thurs although the Sat show will AGAIN be the start of my week on Nantucket!
Last year with so many people going to the Labor Day show I didn't get to meet as many BN'ers. Hopefully this year there will be a LOT of us there on Saturday to try and tailgate together!
May I say again, a full day after the news....
WHOOOOOO FREAKIN' HOOOO!!!!!

Not sure if you're serious but if you're not, I would suggest the Shaws on Route 140 just before the 495 junction (if you're coming from the 95 exit of Route 140).

My plan for Great Woods is always consistent. After 20+ shows there I get there around 8AM - 9AM . . . get drunk and stagger around for hours finding old friends and meeting new ones . . . many laughs . . . new numbers in the phone . . . see some boobs . . . eat . . . shots . . see the show . . . boobs at the show . . . hang out after . . . eat some food . . . wait until the cops threaten my life before I start to think about leaving . . . start to think about leaving . . . take a p*** in the woods . . . see a few drunk girls in bikinis . . . follow them around . . . have the cops drag me to my car . . . leave.
Somewhere in there I am sure out paths will cross.
