Havana Daydreamin Vinyl & PTYD15YOGH

Post by conched »

Woooooooo hooooooooooo!

On a whim yesterday, I also picked up Havana Daydreamin again at the wonderful EMPORIUM in Gonzales, TX.

YEA YEA!!

I got one of the rare copies with Please Take Your Drunken 15-year Old Girlfriend Home!!

From Buffettremasters.com discography:

Two rare versions of this album are rumored to exist. One contains the songs "Please Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home," and "Train to Dixieland," and the other version contains the song "We've Been Taken to the Cleaners (and I Already Had my Shirts Done)." Another variation exists: ABCD-914a. It does not contain "Woman going Crazy on Caroline Street" instead it has " Kick It In, Second Wind" first song, side a. The last song on side a is "Please Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home," not "Defying Gravity." "Train To Dixieland" nor "We've Been Taken to the Cleaners."

It was so cool to put this on the turntable and hear it start off with Kick It In Second Wind. It was then I KNEW!!! :) :) The label lists all the normal songs.

I haven't even listened to the Side Two yet to see if I also GOT Train to Dixie Land and We've Been Taken to the Cleaners.

I have 3 copies of this on vinyl ... one I play, one that's autographed, and one I got a few years back from my sis that's still sealed.

I'm going to go compare them now.

This is definitely my favorite cover artwork!! 15+ years ago I had a color copy of this album cover posted in my cubby @ a law firm where I worked. A temp. commented to a co-worker that I "must be really religious, having that contemporary portrait of Christ in my workspace." She told me she thought about it and then just said "yeah." I asked why she didn't tell him it way JB. She said, "Well, I know you go to church a lot, but then again, to you I figured Jesus and Jimmy Buffett were about the same." ... not quite true but funny!

The Captain and the Kid
Big Rig
Defying Gravity

Great find!
I got a test pressing off of ebay for about $20 a few years back without Havana Daydreamin', Cliches or Defying Gravity on it. The album is labeled as "Kick it in Second Wind". It has the rare versions of Wonder Why We Ever Go Home and Kick it in Second Wind as well as Please Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home and Train To Dixieland.

I checked mine, which is hanging in an album photo frame in our Buffett room. It is the standard ABCD-914 as well

I wonder if you could post the order of the songs on that test pressing you have? And thanks again for sharing those songs with people!

Seems like the album conched got is the ABCD-914a variant... Wanted to verify at buffettremasters.com but it seems now that the link http://www.buffettremasters.com/discography/havana.htm goes to some parked pages at godaddy.com.

I remember you posting about that GREAT find. That's why every time I find Havana Daydreamin, I go ahead and get it just in case it is one of the rare pressings.

Is there any way you can tell before playing it?

Awwww, Dave. That's really bad news.
I sure enjoyed those pages while they lasted.

Wonder who to contact about someone else hosting them?

I wonder too... But if DOES say on the parked page in the title, "Coming Soon!", for whatever that's worth.

I did find the cached version at google:

http://209.85.207.104/search?q=cache:Th ... cd=1&gl=us

Was hoping to see where "Please Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home," and "Train to Dixieland," and "We've Been Taken to the Cleaners" were placed, but I guess it doesn't say on that page.

Nancy,
Are you saying that the Album itself says that Defying Gravity, etc... is what's on the LP but when you put it on the turntable another song plays instead?

That's interesting. Image
Some people never find it, some only pretend
But me, I just want to live happily ever after every now and then.

Exactly, DEZ!
That's why I thought it may be worth it to buy it. Everything looks like the regular album, but when you play it, it has Kick It In Second Wind first and NO Woman Goin Crazy and then PTYD15YOGH instead of Defying Gravity.
