You would need to rent a car to drive down to Great Woods. Boston is about 30 to 35 miles to the north of Mansfield. If the airport nearest you has Southwest flying into it, I would check that to see if you can fly into Providence, Rhode Island cheaper. It's about the same distance to Providence to Mansfield. Needless to which one you choose, you would need to get a car transportation to Great Woods.
Thanks!

Flights from the UK go directly into Boston so I guess there is little choice. I remember traffic around Boston as being manic - the things we go through just to get to a concert.........

I need to do a bit more research!
Fly to Philly, come with us. Not sure if we will fly/drive yet? Spend a few days and then off to the concert. On the way back you could spend sometime at the Jersey shore. :D :D

siiighhhh...Skybus wouldn't work for me....without renting a car - which would defeat the purpose of flying skybus and saving money...

so unless someone lives near portsmouth NH (where skybus flies into) - I'm out :(
There's this one particular harbor.....

You could do it without renting a car. Fly into Boston then take the commuter rail to Mansfield http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/rail/ if you stay downtown Boston the night before it will be easy. Then once in Mansfield you have to take a cab to Great Woods (maybe a $7.00 ride) , people have done this in the past. Getting back after the show, that is tricky so I would recommend getting a hotel in the Great Woods area for the night of the show and getting a ride from someone here who is staying at the same hotel.

Thanks to one and all............. looks like I have plenty of options!

Special thanks to you Jeanie - generous as always - not sure I like the idea of riding in the boot! Still I have plenty of padding for the bumpy bits :-?

I have some friends coming to Europe for a month around the concert date, I need to work out how I can be back in time to meet them in Barcelona

I think this is going to be 'quite a summer'

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Sarah lives there in NH so depending on what town she's in, ask her. I may be persuaded to come up to Portsmouth to pick you up since I used to live there.
