This year will be my 9th and 10th show. I have never had "seats" and have always been in the lawn. I decided to finally see a show in seats and am going to the Thur. Illinois show in the 12th row. I had to see at least one show where I don't have to squint to see Jimmy. Partly due to booze in a way though.

Yes, I'm a seat snob. I just love walking down the street when there's a woman with a nice booty walking in front of me. That is what you meant, isn't it?

that deserves a

I tried to be a seat snob this year, but the $100 isn't worth a plastic seat that's 30 feet closer. Now if I would have found something way up front...

I am both, I have enjoyed being in the seat, specially last year at Nissan during the torential downpour as the concert started. Also enjoy the lawn but do not like the lawn hoggers. How much frickn room do you need to spread the blanket that obviously will be trampled on during the intro...and of course price does have a say so in the equation.

I'm a seat snob......which is crazy because I only actually sit during the intermission......but if I want to watch Jimmy on the big screen, I'll stay home and put on my Live at Wrigley Field DVD.....but I have no problems buying lawn tickets for my keets... :D
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Did my decade(s) on the lawn. Been wet, danced, had fun, saved $$. Much prefer the pavilion these past 15 years or so. Also spoiled. Had front row center a few times, and couldn't shake feelings of slight disappointment when I was "only" in the 2nd or 3rd row. Also depends upon the venue. Merriweather Post front row was awesome. Front row was only 3 feet or so from the stage (and the stage was only about 5 feet high). When Jimmy was at the edge of the stage he would talk with the fans in the front rows between songs. Right before intermission and when the show ended were great opportunities to get his autograph. But Nissan Pavilion is a different story. Except for "bragging rights", 2nd, 3rd, 4th row is every bit as good as front row because the stage is about 10 feet away and maybe 6 feet high, i.e. there is very limited direct "interaction" with Jimmy during the show.

Those are the only two venues I've ever had orchestra seats. Being close also allows you to see how much Jimmy and the band really enjoy their "summer jobs". Their expressions and between song horseplay with one another are wonderful to experience and see .... they never seem to be just going through the motions.

I agree with whoever posted that they "do their partying in the lot", and "at show time want to be inside with good seats".

First time lawn for me was Boston '06. Prior to that I had done pavillion only. That was the Thursday show and for any of you that might have been there, you know that the weather sucked....BIG TIME!!! Torrential downpours during the tailgate and throughout the show. I was soaked from head to toe.....but had an absolute BLAST anyway. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. :D

Now, for a certain other favorite musician/band of mine ;) , the cheapest tix are the closest and best ones. $40 to be up close and personal, within arms reach and close enough to look into those beautiful blue eyes.... done that a time or two..or three...or four... or.... [smilie=battingeyes.gif]  8)

I'm not really a seat snob but I know that by the time I have a chance to buy the seats all of the "lawn" seats will be sold out  (So I have opted for the pavilion as one of my only ways to get into the venue.)

I like to get the best seat, for me, possible. (For example, I actually wanted general admission for the upcoming Springsteen show.....others prefer having an assigned seat.)

However, I will sit just about anywhere if I really want to see the show.

I also don't think, unlike some, that how close the to stage I am able to score tickets to, does in anyway show my value as a human being.

Too old for the lawn! I've always had a seat. Last year at Irvine Meadows I confirmed my need for a seat, Meadows is a very steep lawn and they over sold it....barely standing room...had friends that had lawn seats, they got peed on, barfed on and knocked over,....they left the concert early it was so bad. There were people there with 'keets. Glad I had seats. Will never sit on the lawn.

Did that last November, it's the only way to go! Wish Jimmy would do that.

I consider myself a "seat snob", but my wallet says otherwise.
If I can't get a decent seat, I'll take lawn and hope for better luck the next show.

No keets here, and the only time we sit down is during intermission as well...

Never had lawn seats for Jimmy, and if that's all I had, I'd rather stay home and watch him on DVD too!

To me, for a show, the lawn just seems like a whole lotta passive observervation VS the seats... they have active participants!

I enjoyed my one lawn experience, in Toronto... probably not typical of the big American venues.
If I could get a seat from which Jimmy looked more than an inch tall, and where the sound didn't sound as bad as it did last time at Tinley, I think I'd be very happy!
Why is the seat-selling system such a lottery? Why can't I say I'd pay more for the first 5 or 10 rows, instead of the same high price for soemthing in a corner, almost behind a pillar?

Did the lawn for years at Nissan. Always had a blast even in the rain.
The last few years we have been in the pavilion with ParrotHead Club tickets. Honestly, I liked both, but it is nice to be able to go to the bathroom and come back to your seat without having to shove your way through a crowd! :D
