"Colombian Friend"
(to the tune of African Friend)
Disembarking at K-town Train Station
Seeking some sort of a job
As he stepped down off the train platform
He glanced around at the mob
"Necesito un trabajo" (I need a job)
Spoke to the boss man and smiled
Bart replied "por supuesto" (of course)
As he motioned the dark man inside
Business in his homeland concluded
He now needed some money to spend
That's how I came to meet my Colombian friend
We were out in the barn for a while
Conversing as most people do
We were talking 'round some tiles
Hopin' to see the time through
Wondering 'bout what we were knowing
Boss man looked down from the store
Through the whole thing my new friend kept going
'Til I pointed at me, then at the door
With our afternoon there behind us
We were ready just to talk more again
That's when I came to know my Colombian friend
But I remembered I did not have to work
Thought maybe I should go back
As I turned and kept going on home
Saw a note pinned to my pack
"It was a pleasure and a very nice talk
Truly was a good time
Have yourself a nice walk home
Take care my American friend"
With my long day at school concluded
I now had several hours to spend
That's when I came to meet my Colombian friend
That's how I came to meet another good friend
