I can't believe this

Post by allucaneatbuffett »

Pardon me while I vent. So I hear that there is now a 4 ticket limit in the Pavillion at Nissan, and 6 lawn. Even last year it was 4 Orch, 6 Pavillion, and 6 lawn.
I guess the f**kin scalpers have dictated this. I have been going for 15 years with the same 2 other couples in the pavillion, now that means we will need to split up.
Not to mention that ticket prices are even higher than last year.
This sucks donkey A*S.....

I know you all don't care about my bitchin, but had to do it. I dare say I am close to saying "it's been real, and been fun" but I have had enough, but the bottom line is I will still go.

Overall, it just stinks.

Ticket Limits

Post by ParrotheadPeteNJ »

All, these limit rules help prevent reselling extra tickets-at least those sellers without extra credit cards/people to help them. For the most part many people who try for tickets won't even reach the limits before the show(s) sell out. Your best bet may be to try for lawn seats for the tougher show and trade for your 4-6 for the other show.

I look at it this way...

Sure, you may go to JB with 2 other couples and require those 6 seats all together, but I'd doubt I'm going out very far on a limb in saying that most people don't go to shows in somewhat larger sitting groups in the pavilion.

For one, its hard to do and two, its easier for bigger groups to enjoy a show in the lawn or general admission.

I think a big reason for this isn't so much the scalpers as much as it is those people that we see here on BN that say they bought 8 tickets, their mom bought 8 tickets, uncle fred bought 4 and the dog bought 6 more. When there's a high demand of tickets, people sometimes gorge themselves and wind up with 20+ tickets, and then have a tough time selling them back to friends.

I think those people may have just as much of an effect on ticket limits that the scalpers do, because a lot of those 20+ tickets just go back to the scalpers on the day of the show.

It's just my two cents, and I agree, the scalpers are helping to ruin everything, but if the fans stopped buying block after block of tickets when they don't personally need them, I think we'd be halfway to fixing our problem.

I won't talk about "fixing" the other half of the problem (ahem! scalpers!)

the whole point for the lower ticket limits is so MORE people can get tickets. NOT to make scalers happy.

DO THE MATH.... 20,000 seats divided by 4 is 5,000 potential ticket buyers. 20,000 seats divided by 8 is 2,500 potential ticket buyers.

NOW QUIT YOUR BITCHING

Try not to take it personally. When you speak your mind here, as we all do, you need to expect that there are other people with differing opinions who will share those view points. It's not about being ruthless, it is about having an honest and open discussion about a situation.

You got that right. Now everybody who is bitching about a 3-5 hr drive, or that he is not playing "in" your town, donate your tickets to someone else, and exit the Parrothead pool.

Wg1S, and it is sometimes compounded by the annual cycle of:

threads about anxiety over potential tour dates - "when will they come out?!"

the threads of doom and gloom whether or not there will even be another tour

finally the dates start trickling out and threads kick up about how they don't like the way dates trickle out 8)

when the dates do come out - threads about "why the @#$%^&* isn't JB coming to my town?" :x

the inevitable "Holy $%@t! the ticket prices are blah blah blah" threads

the "why can't he play my city on a weekend" threads

"I hate the ticketbastard" threads

an endless procession of why we should all go kill a ticket broker threads

and of course, all the Boise threads :D

it's all too predictable but don't take it personally. You aren't the first and unfortunately won't be the last. It's like an annual thread migration. :pirate:

I'm just glad the man is still out and about and willing to come play for us no matter where we are - we are all free to go to him. I love this time of year :D It gives me something to look forward to - I've had a spring in my step this week because I know summertime is coming. How do I know?, 'cause Jimmy and the Coral Reefers are starting a tour in a few weeks!

AYCEB- Sorry for posting negative thoughts...didn't mean to come off as a butthole, it's just the fact that all those reasons we all complain about are out there for all of us, and have been for many years as you know. I lurked on this site for years before joining in and as others have said, this happens every year at this time. Please don't let my or anyones negative energy keep you from posting here. There's good people here.
