I love rum (Appleton and Brindleys) and vodka.

The mojitos at Conch Republic Seafood Co are the best I've ever had......

One night, Bits was drinking a chocolate covered cherry martini and he gave me the receipe:
1 part cream de caco
1 part cherry vodka
1 part Godiva white chocolate liquor

OMG - it was really good! Only problem is more than one will put you on your a$$........ :o 8)

My other fav is simple lemonade and blueberry vodka.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

I like Plantation for straight sipping. Montecristo is also excellent neat.

I also really enjoy Meyers mixed with a little caffenine free diet coke. You get the sweetness of the rum, not the cola. Top that with a slice of lime. It is a wonderful thing.

My wife and I had a party for family a couple of weeks ago. My wife's aunt and her idiot boyfriend like to think they are high rollers (they are white trash). He brought over the ultra premium Cruzan and started mixing it with Pepsi. After their third cocktail, I stashed their really good stuff and started pumping them full of Bacardi. They had no idea....

For Dark 'N Stormys, you gotta have the Goslings.
I also like rum mixed with OJ and Pineapple juice. I have no idea what it is called; someone please tell me if they know.

And I enjoy drinking them while sitting in a lawn chair in the parking lot at Nissan on the day of a Buffett show. :D

Just mixed up a mojito using 10 Cane rum from Trinidad......I've been looking at this rum everytime I'm in the liquor store thinking "Should I pay that much for rum?" :o I'd always used Bacardi for my mojitos. :pirate: I even have 3 pots of fresh mint growing on my back porch steps.....got to have fresh mint!

I can now say without hesitation that the 10 Cane takes this drink to another level! [smilie=coolup.gif]

The quality of the liquor definitely makes or breaks a mixed drink.....unless your primary goal is just to get smashed! [smilie=hammerit.gif]

If you add some coconut cream to it, it's a Painkiller!

I keep meaning to check out the 10 Cane. I have not heard anything about it. Now that I have I might pick up a bottle.

Montecristo and a Mojoito is a wonderful combination. Just one for me though. Well, maybe two or three. Good stuff anyways...

Fresh mint is the only way to go...

You're absolutely right, fresh mint is a "must" for a mojito. I never tried Montecristo rum, but I'm always searching for the "perfect" mojito so thanks for the tip!

Definitely give 10 Cane a try as well.....

Just curious, I always had trouble getting my muddling to be consistent from drink to drink, some good, others not so good. This year I've been puting mint sprigs, rum, simple syrup, lime juice, & cointreau in a shaker with ice cubes. The shaking with the cubes bruises the mint just enough, then I strain into a tall glass with crushed ice & top with cold club soda. It does seem to give me a more consistent drink when mixing several glasses at a time for friends. Ever try this????

I've had the Cruzan single barrel not to bad. If I am something neat during the summer and I am having a cigar. I found that rum is probablly the best pairing.

Anyone ever tried the Brazilian version of a Mojoito? I forget the name, I've never tried...

The caipirinha is probably what you are referring to.
It is made with lime and cachaca (brazillian rum made from sugar cane rather than molasses).

The caipirinha is really refreshing when made with a reasonably good cachaca.

Beleza Pura makes a pretty good caipirinha (using their own premium cachaca)
