d*m... you bringing that to KW?
You betcha, the boat is always stocked, and if the weather sucks, I'll transfer it to the car. Yup, Anniversario and cigars on board are in order.
I'm going to have to break into my piggy bank in that case, make sure the cigars match the rum :D

I'm a big fan of Pyrat...

Tried this out last week for the 1st time...at Alpine.
Seemed to be popular, the bottle was empty within an hour:

I like a lot of rums, but I usually end up buying Lamb's Navy Rum because it's the least expensive big bottle I can buy here in the Great White North -- currently $34.15 for 1.14L. It's a bit cheaper than buying the 750ml bottle (and lasts a bit longer, too).

It also delays that panicky feeling you get when the bottle starts looking empty. :)

If you split two vanilla beans, scrape them and let it all soak for about a month, it'll be much, much better.

I don't think I've ever had a bottle of rum that lasted for an entire month! :)

I can now say without hesitation that the 10 Cane takes this drink to another level! [smilie=coolup.gif]

The quality of the liquor definitely makes or breaks a mixed drink.....unless your primary goal is just to get smashed! [smilie=hammerit.gif]
Lacey (Mrs Z) usually makes her mojitos with 10 Cane,
but was using Flor de Cana 7 year old Grand Reserve Rum this weekend

They were even better than the 10 Cane version! :o

found the "Flor de Cana 7 year old Grand Reserve Rum" in KY on the supply run before the Cinci tailgate. While I shared the Ron Matusalem 15 with everyone, both the Flor de Cana and another bottle stayed safely ensconced in the room for trying at home. Now I just have to get some more of the Ron Matusalem before Stars, or find a way to go thru all of that down there after making a run to the Winn-Dixie's liquor store up the road from the Island House.

I do like the Flor de Cana 7, nice taste to it. Have not tried it with the ultimate test tho... a cigar and the sipping. :D

I do not get the hoopla about the 10 Cane, personally I am not a fan of it.

Her mojitos had a bit of a tint to them this past weekend for a couple reasons:
The Flor de Cana is a darker rum (obviously  )
and she uses raw sugar in her mojititos, rather than powdered sugar.
If folks want 'em clear, tell them you'll just have to use cheaper ingredients especially for them!

10 Cane is like all the other rum agricole products (made from sugar cane rather than molasses) in that it has a drier/less sweet flavor than industrial rums (made from molasses)

" Rhum agricole or agricultural rum was developed out of necessity in the 19th century when there was a shortage of molasses. The primary ingredient of industrial rum is molasses. On the Caribbean island of Martinique, Homere Clement developed a method of rum production similar to making wine where the sugar cane was pressed like fruit to extract the juice. Rum made in this fashion, rhum agricole, represents only 3% of world's rum production."

I used to know a guy who got all bent out of shape when I'd use dark rum in my boat drinks. I thought he was going to cry when I made a strawberry daquiri with Meyers. I told him, if you do not like it, go buy your own damn rum. He never said another word.
