i'm watching The Clash Live: Revolution right now with Pierre on it. As a teen of the eighties with 2 older brothers...the Clash have been and will always be my favorite band. I love Jimmy now, but he wasn't my cup of tea when i was a 13 year old punk. Nothing tells you that the Clash was a band ahead of their time better than Rolling Stone magazine declaring their London Calling album the number 1 album of the 80s...even though it was released in 1979. Unbelievable passion and energy in every performance.
I was never a big Pierre fan. Michael Tierson was THE MAN!!!
"Gorrilla Theater" & "Psychedelic Psupper" He introduced Philadelphia to Bruce Springsteen and hundreds of other artists back when radio was worth listening to. He is reponsible for many of the artists I call my favorites.
Summer 2017-

August 25 - Jason Aldean/Chris Young, BB&T
Kasey Chambers, City Winery NYC & World Café Philly

Like Bits and others, Pierre Robert is cool. I've been intereviewed on his radio show live from the JB concert at tweeter center in camden. He's a fixture on philly radio, and although he is older now, he still looks the same as he did back in the 70's, quite a hippee

"Reginald the Butler here!"
I used to love Pierre from mid-morning to mid-afternoons. As a kid growing up in Philly in the 80's I spent many a memorable summer listening to him spin records and tell stories.
And yes, Michael Tierson was also great. You can still catch him on Classic Vinyl in the afternoon on Sirius Radio.
I have met Michael Tierson at several shows over the years and he is the nicest guy. A man who really loves his work. Great radio voice.

Although I agree with you about Micheal Tierson, I think it was the late great Ed Shockey who introduced Bruce Springsteen to Philadelphia.
Never was a Pierre fan either. Met him a few times in person. He struck me as a little bit phony.
I'm just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy
in a world full of pushin' and shove
Shockey gets the credit but MT was right there playing Bruce with him. 80% of Bruce's early sales were from the Philadelphia area.
I met Ed Shockey and Linda(?) Drew at a show at Brandywine Club and they were both A holes. Especially her. She struck me as a coke ore. I was really bummed cuz I always like Ed on the radio. Maybe he was just in a bad mood having to be with her!
