where do you get your ringtones? Verizon has a limited selection of ringtones...any suggestions of a good site to download them from?

I got my Margaritaville ringtone thru Verizon.....I get a lot of compliments....and a few laughs when "Wasting away again in Margaritaville" plays in the middle of a meeting at work.
My boss once told me after a high level meeting with senior management that I should get rid of it....I asked if it was affecting my performance, to which he said no. I replied, "well, if the worst you're going to put on this years review is you don't like my ringtone, I can live with that." He smiled and called me an a **hole....guess that means he can live with it too.

Verizon is very difficult to get ringtones from anywhere other than Verizon. They require that phone manufacturers disable the option to upload your own via memory card like you can with photos. However, you can e-mail ringtones to your own phone and save them as sound files from the e-mail and assign the file as a ringtone.
Create a ringtone on your computer. I know mp3's work. E-mail it as an attachment to your phone # @vzwpix.com (ex. 2222222222@vzwpix.com) and it should come to you on your phone. It does not always work on the first try. Sometimes it comes hours later and other times not at all. Files need to be under 300mb. I save them in mono before sending them because it saves file space and allows more length.

Re: Question about Ringtones
Last time I checked, Verizon had five or six Buffett ones...not even the "SYKBH" variety. That's when I found out that my phone is SO cheap I can't even download a dadummed ringtonesunseeker wrote:where do you get your ringtones? AT&T Samsung Blackjack: lets you upload mp3s to the microSD card, and you can select mp3s from the card as ringtones. Generally, everyone gets the generic, "Everybody's on the Phone"; some pholks have specific ringtones.nutmeg wrote:I just switched to AT&T (from Verizon) and was worried that I'd have to give us Buster and Hot hot hot.
However, I was able to get it from AT&T too![]()
I can actually get a signal at our cabin and at my folks place now![]()
Can you hear me now??? YES!!!! now that I switched to another carrier
It works, and no charges from the phone company for something like 20 seconds of your own music.

I bought a cheap program ($10-15 @ Best Buy) a few years back and still use it ... Pix'n Tunes by Susteen ... I saw it on the shelf yesterday when there but didn't see the price. This program takes any mp3 and allows you to edit any part of it to a short clip segment (as short or long as you want) and save it to a new file. I usually have to shorten them a couple times until my phone will accept it. Getting it to my phone is a simple MicroSD card but I have email'd photos and ringtone clips to friends for them to use.FunkHouse9 wrote:You'd have to have some sort of audio editing program for that. I'm not even sure what a good free/cheap and easy one to use would be.sunseeker wrote:how do you save the file as mono?? I'm not very good woth computers....(fyi -its saved in my itunes library)

Every Verizon phone I know of blocks the option to load the file onto a card and use it on the phone. Other phone companies don't do that. There is a free software program called bitpim that hacks into your phone's coding and allows users to upload and download their address books, ringtones, photos, etc.

Anyone have any advice on how to get iPhone ringtones?
Apparently you can only go through the iTunes store now ...
Everytime someone figures out a way around it, they send a software patch to block it ...
Sites like mobile 17 won't work with my phone.
And the iTunes store only has two JB tunes for sale ...
And it irks me to have to re-buy a song that I've already bought several times over and is already on my iPhone. They should have an option to make any song already on your iPhone into a ringtone.
