Ideal Setlist

Post by OnoIsland »

Hey I'm a new poster so I figured I'd introduce myself by starting a thread about your ideal setlist. Hopefully, y'all haven't done this before. The rules are simple: Pick 25-30 songs with two encores and make sure you include the "Big 8". Other than that it's all up to you

1. I Love The Now
2. School Boy Heart
3. The Weather is Here, Wish You Were Beautiful
4. Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
5. Trying to Reason With Hurricane Season
6. Far Side of the World
7. Fins
8. Volcano
9. Cheeseburger in Paradise
10. Prince of Tides
11. Come Monday
12. Havana Daydreamin'
13. Great Heart

***Intermission***

14. Cuban Crime of Passion
15. Ragtop Day
16. The Wino and I Know
17. One Particular Harbor
18. Biloxi
19. Floridays (original)
20. Treat Her Like a Lady
21. The City
22. Manana
23. Presents to Send You
24. If It All Falls Down
25. Son of a Son of a Sailor
26. Landfall

Encore 1:

27. Margaritaville
28. Southern Cross
29. Beyond The End

Encore 2:

30. A Pirate Looks at 40 (solo acoustic)

***This was way harder than I ever anticipated. I could not make up my mind and left off tons of stuff I wish I could have put on. I changed it a bunch and already want to change it again but I'll go with this (for now)***

I would have to add Nautical Wheelers and Defying Gravity. I saw Jimmy in Charlotte a few years ago and he came out and played Nautical Wheelers as an acoustic encore. It was a great way to end the night. Defying Gravity is one of my favorite tracks from the Fenway album, so I'd have to go with that one, too

Migration...yep...that would be on mine, for sure.

I'll have to think on this a bit, but while I've heard Migration once live (Dallas 2006-THANK YOU, JIMMY!!!) I don't waver in my support of that one.

I wasn't sure what your 'big 8' were, but I would certainly scratch Margaritaville and Fins and Cheeseburger from my list to make room for some others if not for that requirement to this thread. What can I say? I'm a ballad kind of girl. However, in a concert setting, it is nice to break up the types of songs. (Ballad then happy rocker, etc...I tried above, but I didn't think too hard on the order, as, well, I'm tired.)

I love doing this as it seems to change for me each time.

I try to think in terms of a "realistic" setlist that I could possibly hear, as opposed to the fantasy one which has no shot, so I include the Yellow Album must haves . . . for the most part.

Intro: Banana Wind

1.) The Weather is Here, Wish you Were Beautiful
2.) Smart Woman (in a Real Short Skirt)
3.) Lone Palm
4.) Come Monday
5.) He Went to Paris
6.) Cowboy in the Jungle
7.) Last Mango in Paris
8.) CILCIA
9.) Manana
10.) Tin Cup Chalice
11.) Bama Breeze
12.) One Particular Harbor
13.) Fins

INTERMISSION
Trip Around the Sun

14.) SOASOAS
15.) Banana Republics
16.) Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
17.) Migration
18.) The Wino and I Know
19.) My Head Hurts, My Feet Stink, and I Don't Love Jesus
20.) Woman Goin Crazy on Caroline Street
21.) Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season
22.) Brahma Fear
23.) 5 O'Clock Somewhere
24.) Nautical Wheelers
25.) Margaritaville

FIRST ENCORE
26.) A Pirate Looks at Forty
27.) Boat Drinks
28.) Brown Eyed Girl

SECOND ENCORE
29.) The Captain and the Kid / Defying Gravity

I'd love to squeeze Death of an Unpopular Poet in there somewhere, but realistically, I think the show is probably too mellow already.
