Here's my 2 cents. I think that some got bought thinking
of making a dime. And that did not happen so this time around
they didn't buy up.
I know that 2007 Frisco I hadn't found BN and bought
sets the last days from ebay and had great seats two
for the price of one.
Just my thinking

Lawns i'm surprised with....but at 136.00 a pop...people( and i can only speak for myself) are probably cutting back on the amount of shows they will attend....also people may not travel like they/we did in the past do to other outside costs!!...for one person you are looking at 400.00 +/- with hotels...tickets...booze...food....gas.....and that doesn't include if you were to fly!!

Is it just me or is Jimmy doing quite a few more shows this year?
He seems to going some places that he hasn't been to for a while.
Maybe there are just more tickets around.
Or could it be that we are in a recession and people are cutting back.
The top ticket for the Houston Show, works out to 190.00 each with fees.
190 X 2=380.00 and you haven't had a drink or dinner! Pretty expensive.
Just a thought!

The economy is slipping
Bear Stearns implodes, thats not a good sign
Discretionary spending is going to drop way off.
The only good thing? The speculators who bought tickets and planned on selling them at inflated prices aren't going to make out like they thought

Fuel and food getting expensive. Seems people would rather feed their kids and drive to work than pay big bucks for Buffett tickets. Warped priorities if you ask me.

The economy dictates that I'll going to fewer shows this year. I'm not happy about it but reality is reality. Imagine lots of folks are in the same boat...

I think you're absolutely right. unless gas prices go down (and they're predicted to hit $4 a gallon) ticket sales will be sluggish. HEY maybe the Parrotheads can put a littel phin-pressure on the oil a$$holes!

But if the people who usually travel to multiple shows are cutting back shouldn't that mean the people who "can never get tickets" should be able to get them now?

in theory, yeah, but gas prices, etc, are going to take a bite out of discretionary spending, whether or not there's travel involved...
(the same $150 I might have spent on a JB ticket went into my gas tank in the last two weeks...)

Hi everybody........
Here is the sad reality.
Yes there are a lot of tickets out there waiting to be resold by scalpers.
& YES they are expensive!!!!!
(as are most close tickets to the stage for the vast majority of bands)
The problem is 2-fold.
#1.
Live Nation wants to get their greedy little hands on every morsel and every penny they can! They have already started buying the actual venues and want a piece of ticket sales, concessions, merchandising, parking fees, etc.
#2.
Our beloved JB has gotten equally greedy!
$125-$135 per ticket?
Jimmy is filthy rich and should be ashamed!
JB owns multiple planes, cars, homes and yachts!
So where else does our hero get $$$$ ???
- Royalties on all his books he has authored.
- Royalties on all of his CD's and DVD's.
- Merchandising his "on tour goodies".
- Merchandising his goods at every Margaritaville restaurant.
- Merchandising at every Cheeseburger In Paradise restaurant.
- Every franchise of CIP & Margaritaville restaurants yields more $$$.
- $$$ from his growing supermarket line of foods.
- $$$ from his Margaritaville tequilla.
- $$$ from his joint effort with Anheuser-Busch for Landshark Lager.
- $$$ from ticket sales !!!!
With the economy being so poor lately......
On top of the cost of gas.
It has quite simply become a logistical immpossibility for all of us real fans to afford to not only buy tickets and parking, but travel and accomodation expenses and food and drinks.....
I mean it really adds up!
You might remember how outraged Pearl Jam was with Ticketmaster and they boycotted "the system" making sure that ticket prices were fair.
Sure tickets were scalped, but they tried to help the situation as they saw how their fan base was financially suffering after all of the years of fan support.
How about Ozzy Osbourne?
He had last year's Ozzfest as a FREE EVENT!!!!
Now THAT is giving back to those who have made you so financially secure!
Maybe JB should make next year's tour free......
It could be called "Jimmy Buffett's Free Concert Tour 2009".
Or maybe, "The 2009 This Tour Is Free For My Fans".
Jimmy knows exactly what is going on with ticket prices and Live Nation.
He is also quite the businessman!
& he knows that we will all pay to see him!
But in the same breath, has the power to set prices and stick to them!
Or even give us all a free tour!
I don't mean to offend anyone!
& I love JB and that one particulor harbor he takes us all to!
& all the great friends I've made because of the tailgating adventures!
But this is how it really is!
& Live Nation isn't helping matters!
Greed is a bad characteristic and/or trait for one to possess!
I could go on and on, but I think you all get my point.
It doesn't have to be like this!
JB concerts could be very affordable.
But they aren't and it is just a sad state of affairs.

Saturday afternoon there were still a lot of reserved seats left in Charlotte at $130.00 each! Two years ago when he was there the same tickets were $68.50!!! Of course all of the $33 lawn seats were long gone. That should tell you something. Paul McCartney in Atlanta two years ago were only $125.00.

Why in heaven's name should a man be ashamed of being rich?? Ticket prices are at the going rate for an act of his caliber. Oh, and the band members and roadies aren't rich, and they still have to be paid.

That's
business, not greed....

We haven't bought tix cuz JB hasn't booked a weekend show thats a close enough drive for us. Nothing to do with the economy...
