Are you kidding? Shame on any seller who would turn down $5,000/ticket. If I had two fourth row seats and was offered $10k for the pair I would personally deliver the tickets along with a gift bottle of tequila, compliments of the seller.

If I have lots of money, isn't it my business what I do with it?
I don't understand how some people can gripe about not getting tickets, and then hammer someone who spends a ridiculous sum of money for tickets.
We just bought 4 tickets for Nissan for over $600.00
and that was the going rate. That seems pretty high to me, but you do what you have to do or want to do.

No. You have it all wrong. "Real fans" deserve the tickets:Travis McGee wrote:If I have lots of money, isn't it my business what I do with it?

1) cheap
2) with little or no effort to obtain
Or at least that's how I understand it. There are apparently exactly the number of real fans as there are seats in each venue so if we take brokers and rich stupid b@st@rds out of the equation, Ticketmaster phone lines will never be busy and every real fan will easily get a seat.
Or something like that. Let me go back and re-read a few dozen threads dedicated to this subject and I'll get back to you.

I feel the same way. I got screwed by Ticketmaster a few years ago and didn't get tickets to Alpine. So I went on Ebay got two I needed and obviously paid more for them. Now I know I didn't buy them from a "real fan" as they were shipped from New Jersey for a show in Wisconsin but someone just looking to make a quick buck knowing someone like me who wanted to go more than anything would be stupid enough to them and pay more for a ticket and make them happy. I went to the show, and they made a profit, so everyone was happy.surfpirate wrote:No. You have it all wrong. if I remove emotional attachment (I WANT TO GO TO THE BUFFETT CONCERT!!!) and look at scalping as a business, I still don't like it, but I understand it.
Think of a group you REALLY don't want to see, but their tickets go like hotcakes. Hannah Montana, for instance. If I came into possession of Hannah Montana tickets, would I sell them on ebay over face? Wellll.... No... But I have to actually think about it. With JB tickets I'll simply sell them at face, probably to someone I know, without even considering making a buck.
Take out the emotion and it's far easier to see how someone is making a buck scalping tickets, without thinking much of it.

wait, you aren't a "real fan"? and i'm just writing really small now to make people look really, really hard. think this makes some people mad because they can hardly read it? i bet so. anyways, amen to your post about "real fans". they remind me of the people that say "us" or "we" when referring to a basketball/football/baseball team that wins or loses. sitting in front of a TV doesn't put you on the team. nor does it make you a real fan, no matter how much you complain about ticket prices or about jimmy not playing wdwgdas anymore. and where can I buy an avatar that makes me a "real fan" too? doesn't that give me a right to complain about ticket prices, availability, color, size, etc.?surfpirate wrote: Umm. ok, i'll stop now. it's been a long st. pattys night. thanks for your great sarcasm. i would imagine it will pick up a few more who actually think you're being "fo-real".

Moog, if Judy and I won the mega millions, I'd put us in the same 2 seats for every show on the tour.moog wrote:I'm going to the win the mega millions, buy as many tickets as I can, and resell them for 300.00-5,000 each. So there.
When Jimmy looked out and saw us in the same 2 seats, he'd send out Charleston, to ask us why we ae stalking him!

This is AMERICA, where people have the right to be stupid, act stupid, and do DAMN stupid things with their money.
If some jacka$$ somewhere wants to spend $5000.00 just to go hear someone sing, I say get out of his way and LET the idiot be stupid.
Hell, there's actually people who think I wasted MY money when I bought my S.U.V. instead of a friggin' lawnmower with doors.
That sure as hell doesn't stop me from DRIVING my Jeep Grand Cherokee V-8 that gets a whopping 14 miles per gallon.
Let people do idiotic things with their money-it's the American way. We're in a recession, and the more money these schlubs spend, the better.
That being said, the day I spend $5000.00 to hear Jimmy Buffett sing will be the day HE spends $5000.00 to watch ME write parking tickets.
