Is ticketmaster able to block me out

Post by fanvan »

this is my story----I was on tm this am for Pittsburgh tics---getting thru over and over again for pavilion tics---kept tossing them back because I wanted something in the first 15 rows---I could have bought over 100 tics today---finally about 11:45--i started getting the page that says i cannot access the tm page---it is now 10:05pm and i still cannot access the site on 3 different computers in my house-- any ideas?????

I know they block people for a few minutes when they refresh too much/quickly. I haven't heard about getting blocked for your situation. Try deleting your cookies and see if that helps anything. I suppose it is possible they could have blocked your ip address if they think your computer is some kind of ticket program.

This has happened before. TM, I believe, locks out your IP address after you attempt to search for tickets many times over a realitively short time frame. Even though you said you tried different computers, if they are all using the same interenet connection through a router in your home, you are essentially using the same IP address. You will find that probably by tomorrow you will be able to access TM again. Or you could log on from a neighbor's house or via a different method from your own house (dial-up perhaps) right now.

TM will not admit locking you out and if you call them the customer service rep will deny it and try to blame other factors...mainly that your computer is not working properly or there is something wrong with your connection. This differs from the short lockout you might encounter when refreshing your screen right before tickets go on sale. If you refresh your screen too many times within a very short period of time, you won't be able to access the site for a few minutes. It's only after searching for tickets multiple times that you get the dreaded 24hr lockout.

Thanks guys----Cleaned up cookies and that did not help----guess I caught the 24 hour virus---we will see---tried to fool tm by going in thru aol---got as far as search for tics page but then I was blocked---I thought it was strange to get thru so often--but it is strange that they blocked me without me actually buying any tics

Wow, you were picking up tickets all morning? Sounds like Jimmy should cancel the Pittsburgh show and add a show up in Mansfield, MA. That show was sold out in minutes. I'm sure you don't want to hear that but 2 shows in Mansfield leaves tens of thousands of Northeast Parrotheads out in the cold.

What about the tens of thousands of fans in cities that don't have any shows?

I had never heard of this until today, but it seems to have happened to me. I can't connect to their website at all, it gives an error in both IE and Firefox -

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

OR

Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.ticketmaster.com

My internet connection is working fine though. I can even ping them by hostname. By using a proxy, or connecting from work, I can verify that their site isn't down though. Maybe they use it to try to reduce scalpers or something, but obviously they are impacting regular customers.

Sorry to sound cold but its kinda hard to feel sorry for someone who had multiple chances to buy tickets and did not. There are many people who get shut out and would be happy with anything.

Yeah--I guess I am a fool. I pushed "buy" the first set of tickets that showed up on the screen, and felt happy to get them! And they were more than decent seats, so I guess I was lucky. Anyway, any seat at a Buffett concert is a good one. Remember, according to the
