but also in the middle of a series of Jewish holidays where my school is closed---I may actually be able to fly out there for this one!
I missed meeting you last time too..
I have sent an email to my friend in Redwood City to see if I can come visit for the weekend, and if that works with her, I will be there! Have been to Shoreline 3 times, and 3 other concerts in the Bay area, but I am due for another one!

Here's a true story about how "fun" the lawn can be at Shoreline:
In 1986, a fan at a Steve Winwood concert at San Francisco’s Shoreline Amphitheater, which was built atop a closed landfill, was scorched when, possibly calling for an encore, he flicked his cigarette lighter, which ignited a methane seep and sparked a five-foot high column of flame.

To the best of my knowledge, it's still a problem there. They don't even have their own Website anymore, but reviews people have been posting don't mention anything about live music. I'd guess they've given up.
As for Vegas, my money would be on shows the Saturday before and after, both at the MGM grand.

Still, it's nice to get over six months' notice for a change.
who do you have to talk to or know, to become the opening act for jimmy?
member of the parrothead nation
Wish I knew.
There's a chance I might have John Lovell playing on a couple of cuts on my new album...but the best I can really hope for from that is maybe a backstage pass and maybe he'll wear the Hawaiian shirt I'll give him onstage during the show. Truth to tell, just those things would thrill the heck out of me.
Hell, I don't know what I'd do in front of the whole 20K or so audience. Give me a couple hundred people I can relate to one or two at a time; I'm good.
OTOH, anyone who wants to help hand out leaflets, send me a note. There will be goodies of some sort.

they don't have the juke box out back any more either. it looks to be a very sterile environment.
Hi to you all. Isn't it strange .... my days of being a Parrot Head seem like a dream from the past, when JP and I were always at the Sportspage and then at the amphitheater. Good times, and I have great memories.
Now it's so very different. It's been 3 + years since JP died, and I don't have Jimmy fever much. It went away with JP. I still like to listen to him, and know all the lyrics, but it's just not the same.
So I won't be there in October.
I thought I would check the BN website and read about the concert, and wanted to let you Bay Area PHs know that I am out of the game now.
Where are redwinemaker and jeepgirl?
I love you all, and keep the party goin' !!!
Betty.

The party will *always* be here, and you are *always* welcome to share in it. I don't think we're half so much about the music we listen to (though that's always good too), but about the connections and community we make together. And I hope you'll stick around for that part of it.
Loren
