Ok...now that Uncle Sam has approved the merger...is RM going to be a part of the "new" conglomerate? I sure hope so..I've had XM and love it, except the one station I don't have..RM.

Of course RM will be there. Unique programming will most likely stay intact. It's the duplicate stations that should be concerned.

I hope they don't change Sirius too much....no offense...but XM seems a bit bland on the programming.....Let's hope they keep the best of both...and RM is a part of the new!!!!

I don't do country....but I'll take your word on it. Does RM bleep that song? I've not noticed. (It's not a favorite....I normally switch to something else when it comes on.)

FYI, the FCC has not yet approved.

The FCC may not have approved the merger yet, but even with subscriber growth, these companies lost ~$600 million each last year. Merging may be the only way Satellite Radio can survive financially. ;)

10 states, including Connecticut, have urged the FCC to block the merger, we'll have to see if they succeed in screwing this whole thing up.

The DOJ approved the merger, not the FCC.

What about Howie Stern? He's talk, but not XM talk.

Here is the new pricing plan for both SIRI an XM post-merger, as well as the channel lineups.

http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/retr ... 6519869225

It looks like they are basically keeping SIRI and XM separate. They do have a SIRI and XM plan where you can get "11 of the top" stations of the other, but it doesn't tell you what those stations are. Also, it is doubtful you could be an XMer and just get Howie, or be a SIRI'er and just get O&A or the sports as your "top channel" selection, because of the extremely premium pricing of those options.

I had heard while reading up on this merger what will happen is the following.

*Both services will remain the same to existing customers and all contracts already in place will be honored as they are.
* New customers and existing customers will have the opportunity to purchase special radios that are capable of picking up both satellite signals. Older radios will not be able pick up the other networks stations as they function on unique satellites.
* Going forward, if you have the new multi satellite radio that they will be making available, you will be able to select from an Ala carte menu of stations choosing your favorites from both putting together your own unique plan. This will also come with an Ala carte charge per station in your plan. So you could have the basic Sirius and take a few of the stations you like from XM.

I purchased my radio and a lifetime contract to Sirius back in December and did some research on this when I heard about the merger. Hope this was helpful.

Well, all the info is helpful, but not what I wanted to hear...I guess I'll stay with XM.. The round of stations I listen to play good music, but I sure wish I had RM in the line up! 8)

Based upon the document I posted above, it appears that there will be an XM option for 50 XM channels + 11 SIRI channels.

If what LIBuffettfan said, my older radio won't have the option...if it does, then I WILL have RM...if not...well,

Justice Dept has approved it- FCC has not. Testical radio, er, I mean terrestial radio has spent a good bit of money on the FCC to block the merger-I'm not so sure it will happen.
