My favorite Buffett song! Got a great picture of my wife going "crazy" on Caroline Street. Let's just say alcohol was involved.

Not sure about the actual location...but according to Jimmy at the 2000 benefit show in East Hampton, the "woman" going crazy was actually a transvestite...

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

The only bar that is still open on Caroline Street that was open at the time the song was written is the Bull. But I'm sure the song was written about the old shrimpers bars that used to be between William St and Grinnell St on Caroline back in the 70's.
I'd rather be here, drinkin' a beer, than be freezin' my ass in the north!

According to Tom C.'s book Jimmy Buffett the Key West Years....there was no actual woman who that was based on.

Check out Pepes for Breakfast and the Chart room for a place to drink with some real history. 24.56 N 81.78 W there is no place like home.

If I remember right I thought it had to do with the woman that had the victorian home on Caroline Street. The one that has the woman mannequin in the tower, that is now a bed and breakfast.

This would be a good question for the guy that gives the "Trails of Margaritaville" tour that starts at Captain Tony's. Check it out, it is very fun and interesting. Apparently now they call it the Trails and Tales of Key West. Make a reservation ahead of time.

Other things to do, so many I could suggest but the one must do: Have breakfast at Blue Heaven, splurge and have the Lobster Benedict. You won't see it on the menu but it will probably be told to you by your server it is their signature dish. Also have a Bloddy Goose or a Mamoisa. EXCELLENT!!!!!

Have PHUN!!!!

Yeah, take the Trails tour, if for no other reason than to hit half a dozen bars in an hour and a half! :D
