Circus Circus is not only kind of far away from the major Jimmy activities, but the clown motif scares me. I think all the pink fries my brains. Renting a timeshare is also an option. They are oh so comfy!Uncle John wrote:I think I'm finally going to make it to my first Vegas show, my 32nd Buffett concert overall. I talked a friend of mine into going, he's a Buffett virgin and doesn't necessarily know I plan on spending the better part of Friday night at Margaritaville to see Nadirah's show. As for planning the trip, I haven't booked yet, but from what I'm seeing it appears the best deal I can find is flying Southwest out of Indy and then staying at Circus Circus.... Any tips as to whether this is a good/bad route? I've never been to Vegas, so if someone wants to convince me that this is a bad choice, please throw any advice my way. I really don't mind slumming it, but wouldn't mind being around other Parrotheads and closer to Margaritaville and within walking distance, if possible.
Oh yeah, browneyedgrltx and coolbluewing, I plan on remembering the offer for a cheap margaritta and hot dog!

I'm training for a new job so it's mostly work. But I'll be glad to get home later this month.bbqmonster wrote:There is no way I could do 3 weeks in Vegas. It comes with free breakfast daily and free dinner (including beer) on weeknights. It's a short walk to the Flamingo and the hotel is immaculate. Might be cheaper than a Strip hotel.browneyedgrltx wrote:Bally's is the best to be near Margaritaville but Hooters is next to MGM and there's supposed to be a decent party there on Saturday. Circus Circus is at the other end of the strip from where you want to be. You might try Hooters, I think alot of people are staying there. That Residence Inn sounds like a great deal also!! Glad your getting to join us!!Uncle John wrote:I think I'm finally going to make it to my first Vegas show, my 32nd Buffett concert overall. My boss gave me the green light on working this Saturday morning and then heading to the show (that will be a long day!). Sounds like I'll do the same the next weekend. If I can hit both shows, I won't need Christmas for the next 12 years.

Thank you for posting the link to this! I have no idea where my name tag is, although I would suspect Frisco earlier this year, and I need to make a new one.Vacantly occupied wrote:Just finished printing off a couple of BuffettNews.com name tags for my wife and I. Hello USA Parrotheads heading to Las Vegas!
We are looking forward to leaving San Diego after the Jimmy show in Chula Vista to attend the 10/25 show! Just scored our tickets.
We will be departing Friday afternoon 10/24 around 2 PM and heading up the 5 Freeway to Vegas baby!
If anyone sees a 45' gold & black tour bus with FINS BUS California plates on the open road or roaming up and down the Strip wave! We will be pulling up to Margaritaville the day of the show around Noon.
We can not wait!!

Here we are, maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do
It's the child in us we really value
Here we are, with our fins up and our feathers flashing
Here we are, with our coconut shell brassieres chanting

I am so looking forward to both the San Diego and LV shows!
We saw Jimmy this year in New York at Madison Square Garden, great show but obvously no tailgate. San Diego will get this fix in.
Vegas, well, just a riot, we can not wait! Last year we wpulle dthe bus in the loading dock in the alley next to the Margaritaville party at The Flamingo. Hope to do the same this year!
Hope to meet a bunch of new people, everyone please stop and say hello if you see us either in the bus or with our BN tag around our necks. I am also prone to looking quite stupid by either wearing the FINS BUS or my car plate PIRET40 aroound my neck. My wife cringes.

Well, you will fit in perfectly. One of the beautiful things about the parrothead life is that looking cute and stylish is not a factor. I'm sure my family and friends who do not get this existance cringe when they see the pictures of me wearing my hat, feathers, all kinds of beads, leis, and parrot margaritaville sunglasses, and oh yah, I can't forget the yellow t-shirts. It is creativity at its wildest, and I love it.

I know none of my friends "get it" - at least until they come to a show, then they're hooked! Just like my keet; he thought his parents were crazy and now he buys into the whole weirdness of it and LOVES it! I got me a lil' PH on my hands and it's sooooo cool. He's actually mad at me for not taking him to Vegas with us for this show but he'll have Frisco again next year.

It's a shame that I can't dress like that at work. It would spice up the office a smidgen. Hopefully the weather stays warm down there because I've lost any blubber that could have kept me warm. Ooooooops! How could I have forgotten the coconut boobs and grass skirts? Before I went to my first Buffett show just a few short months ago I was taking a bus to see Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers. I mentioned to the bus driver that I would be going to my first Buffett show in less than 2 weeks. The bus driver told me that he was a parrothead who had seen Buffett multiple times. I asked him how the concerts were, and his response to me was "you decide. You will either get it or you won't. You'll either love it or hate it!" Well, I got it, I love it, and I am totally hooked. I had a few people try to talk me out of going to Las Vegas, and I am glad I am not listening to them. Those people were scared that I would be roaming LV all by myself, and well, I don't think they have anything to worry about.browneyedgrltx wrote:ParrotHeadInThe Making wrote:Don't forget to add the coconut boobies and grass skirt to complete the PH ensemble!SDPirate40 wrote:[Hope to meet a bunch of new people, everyone please stop and say hello if you see us either in the bus or with our BN tag around our necks. There will be plenty of PHs in Vegas as well as people from BN so there's nothing to worry about. I guess Vegas itself could be scary but it's like anyplace else as long as you stay where the crowds and out of unfamiliar (and unpleasant) places you'll be safe.ParrotHeadInThe Making wrote:browneyedgrltx wrote:Ooooooops! I was checking the Vegas weather yesterday and it gets COLD at night! The temps during the day are alot like Texas but we don't get nearly that low at night yet.ohmyhell wrote:browneyedgrltx wrote:It's a shame that I can't dress like that at work. It would spice up the office a smidgen. Hopefully the weather stays warm down there because I've lost any blubber that could have kept me warm. It snowed here this weekendParrotHeadInThe Making wrote:Don't forget to add the coconut boobies and grass skirt to complete the PH ensemble!SDPirate40 wrote:[Hope to meet a bunch of new people, everyone please stop and say hello if you see us either in the bus or with our BN tag around our necks.
He's actually mad at me for not taking him to Vegas with us for this show but he'll have Frisco again next year.I will have to check out SDPirate40's bus. I keep missing it everytime in Vegas and San Diego.
Luckily for me my, one of my bosses is a PH so I just gotta tell him I'm going to Buffett and he's like "okay"!

The normal lows dont get that cold. This last week the temps in LV have been below normal.... pretty much been that way for a good portion of the west. Looks like weather forecast shows lows much more tolerable!browneyedgrltx wrote:
