I heard about those attacks in Somalya, but didn't realize they were anywhere else.

I saw a show recently that says the crew has fire hoses that shoot high pressure water at them to fend them off.

I guess we take for granted the technology and military that we have here. Who would've though that Pirates can still claim prizes out in the high seas? Maybe Jimmy wasn't 200 years to late!

One of my particular pet peeves:

They Are Not Pirates.

They don't deserve the good name of pirate. The real pirates had seaman skills. They had to actually sail their ship. They weren't a bunch of pukes who steal a cigarette boat and grab a handful of automatic weapons.

For as much press as that area gets for piracy, you would think the crew would have been a little smarter in their route planning.

piracy is a real and common threat in certain areas today. Poverty and oppression are causes today much like 200 years ago. Wealthy couples who are cruising on expensive personal yachts can and have been victims. Attacks frequently come at night while nearly everybody on board are sleeping.

Another cause is the decrease in the American military patrolling international waters.
