oh, ok. I thought you were questioning my saying it was an exciting game. Well, I'm not all that much in love with the Red Wings right now but I'll reluctantly give credit where it's dueSMLCHNG wrote:As everyone knows..I'm an Altered Boy wrote:?SMLCHNG wrote:I'm an Altered Boy wrote:wow!

I'm just glad that the Pens did not score because that would hae been a travesty. The game was over until the blatant trip on Datsyuk. How can you not call that??? If that puck had gone in it would have been a serious black eye for the NHL!

BB13, You still don't grasp that there are missed calls on both sides. But whatever, Jimmy in Philly in a little over 9 days!I'm an Altered Boy wrote:beachbum13 wrote:What a great game. Congrats to Pens and RW.

Well, as I said before, the west is just too strong for anyone in the east. As much as I hate the wings, I knew they would win. Just like last year, the one line offense of the east was no match for the west. I am really surprised that it went 6 games. I don't care what the Pens record was against the west during the regular season, any hockey fan knows that the playoffs are a whole different season. Better luck next year East Coast

I'm fully aware that there were calls missed both ways over the course of the game. But two things made that non call stand out. First they had just made a call against the Wings that allowed the Pens back in to the game. Second you have to make calls that are going to effect the result of the game. Ruler used to be "scoring chances". That's the point I was making.blackjack wrote:BB13, You still don't grasp that there are missed calls on both sides. Anyway I sure enjoyed this season a lot more than last and it had nothing to do with either the Wings or the Pens!!!

PLAYOFF HOCKEY....THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR!!!
This final game (and Game 5 for that matter) were the perfect example of why you never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never quit watching or leave an important hockey game early if it's humanly possible for a team to come back. The Pens were withing an inch or 2 of sending this game into overtime.
I'll skip the late game officiating rant
and say the Red Wings truly deserved this Stanley Cup!! While obviously the best players have to come up big for your team to win, it's that much more gratifying when a championship is won due to contributions from the "no-name" players who play on a 4th-line or come from wayyyy back on the depth chart (See David Tyree for NY Giant fans)! It truly was a team effort and while a bounce here or a bounce there could have changed the game or series, you have to admit the Red Wings consistantly carried the play.
Kudos to the Penguins for their great run. While I didn't care for the way they talked during the series, their actions on the ice were well respected. Lemieux & Company's organization has the groundwork laid for a Cup contender for years to come and hopefully this franchise which not too long ago was looking to pack it's bags and move elsewhere will be an Eastern Conference staple for years to come!!

Stoooooopid Redwings.
Hubby and I were discussing the intricacies of hating the Oakland Raiders and the Detroit Redwings. When you hate the Raiders, it is generally a safe be they won't be an overall contender and you don't have to cheer against them in the Super Bowl. The stinkin' Redwings, though, are freakin' in it every year and it just chaps my hide.
Anyway, better luck next year Pens (unless you're playin' my boys, of course).
At least you made 'em work for it a little.

It was a heck of a series. Now that hockey is over, what do I watch now?
If I had it all to do over again, I'd just get myself drunk and I'd jump right back in...
