SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE MARGARITAVILLE CAFES

We were just talking this week about locations we think would be a good for future Margaritaville Cafes.

We live near Pittsburgh PA and was just downtown recently for business meetings. They are really updating the city. They are building a new casino, adding additional subway stops and building a new sports arena. Anyway, there are some nice spots on the waterfront and at station Square that could make for a very good location.

Also we were thinking about either Niagara Falls, NY or Niagara Falls Ontario being a good spot. Right now the American side of the falls does not have that much going on but it could and there are some good locations available. Then the Canadian side is really a nice tourist spot and gets lots of visitors.

Anyway either the PGH or either Niagara choice would be convenient for the East Coast PH clubs to visit often.

Those are two of our choices. What are yours and why?

I think by now we really need one in Ohio. Hell, why not put at least one in every state.

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a franchise program?

I can live with NF either side.

I am sure the US side would do better. A huge portion of us Canadians don't really get it so I would rather have it be a good place and drive a little than be close and s***.

Definitely Niagara Falls!!!! I am about 20 minutes fom the falls, and I would be there every single weekend I think!!! Or maybe I would just give my two weeks notice at work, and go and work there. As the matter of fact we had this conversation at work just on Tuesday..... I was saying to the girls at work that if one opened in the area that I would quit and go work there. Especially with all of the issues with the airlines this week...... makes my job a nightmare!!

So my vote is Niagara Falls!!!!!

I was thinking the other day that we really have no "tropical" theme bars, restaurants or anything here in VT - but I wonder if most people would "get it" anyway. As much as I'd love to see it I'm not sure it would do very well. Most of the bars in our big college town cater to alternative rock (i.e music where I can't understand any of the words)

we're getting ours...granted it's a 11/2 hours away...but it's not a plane ride!!

I think there are already too many. At first it was a cool theme concept and almost a destination. Now as they expand it is just another Bahama Breeze or Outback with theme music and some buffett memorabilia.

I agree. Cheeseburger in Paradise was really cool and it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling inside when there was just one in the Indianapolis market.

Today, there are at least 4 or 5 within 60 miles. It's like O'Charley's now...

That being said, I say keep the Margaritavilles in warm, vacation climates. San Diego?

have to agree as well. nothing like planning a vacation to a warm tropical locale and finding one nearby. it would kind of lose the excitement if there was one just around the corner. the nearest Buffett-esque location to me (aside from my Tiki Bar haven in the backyard) is a Cheeseburger in Paradise in Delaware which is about an hour away, so when i'm really jonsing for an attitude adjustment i make the drive.

keep them all in nice tropical locations so i can tell the wife "I gotta go where it's warm!"

a) PGH has a subway?
b) how far is it from Niagara to Uncasville? too close might cut into the cashflow for both

I agree, I liked them when they were in "Buffett locations" like New Orleans and Key West. Like Hard Rock before them, I think they lose some of the experience when they are all over the place.

But with all of Jimmy's casino connections now, I wonder if we'll see one in Atlantic City in the near future?

Oh, I agree that there should not be one in every major city. To much of a good thing is still to much of a good thing.

I would like to see one somewhere in this corner of the east coast where it would be closer and easier to drive to. I would be there all the time. With prices and the economy the way it is I figure if I'm spending money I want to spend it in a place that appeals to me and Margaritaville definitely does that. In each and every one of the cafes I've been in, JB has delivered a qulaity product that does not disappoint. Besides the winters here are long and miserable and a Margaritaville would help us handle them better. So I think the Phlock would really support them.

Yes, I think a Margaritaville casino in atlantic City would be great. I'm sure we would all support it and I think the general public would love it as well.

I also think he should just buy the Las Vegas Flamingo and turn it into his own casino. I love that hotel. There is some real old Vegas history there. It's also in a great location.

Now this is all from a guests point of view. He and his advisors would know better than I if it would be a good investment.

Pittsburgh has a "subway"...called the "T"....it is primarily light rail from the S. Hills and becomes underground downtown. They are also expanding it to the North Shore (stadiums).

Its not really what you think of when you think of a subway system. I lived here for 10 years before I knew it existed. Although its free to ride within downtown.

Margaritaville in Pittsburgh might have a problem with the existing Margarita Mama's and Margaritaville (no relation to JB's).

Yep. "Less is More". I don't want the franchise to become another Hard Rock Cafe. They should be a warm weather destination, too. If you can't grow a palm tree, you can't have a M'Ville Cafe.
