I really need to get on the exercise bandwagon.....UGH....I know it would help with these damn February BLAHS that I have!
I've lost six pounds since the first of the year.....only NINE more to go to my original goal.....but I may go another five after that...we'll see!
I just bought my first pair of SIZE SIX Calvin Klein jeans EVER in my life......that felt pretty freaking good...single digit clothing....whatta concept and certainly something I never thought I'd see!
Went to a support group meeting last night, that really helped. It was a "Back to Basics" class....portion control, monitoring intake (WRITE IT DOWN), making sure you get 60-75 gms of protein a day....water, water, water.....exercise, exercise, exercise......yep, it's all basic, but need to be reminded!

Thanks!
Honest to goodness, IF I have to keep track and check in HERE, even if it is just for myself, the part about "WRITING IT DOWN" just seems to work for me.
Way to go, Paige!!! What an inspiration! I must get the activity and NOT be sendentary, along with watching bad fat intake, if I'm gonna keep the cholesterol right.
Thanks to everyone who helps to keep this thread going...and Johnson, you are such a motivator.
If I could just get it on paper...

So far so good. Nickel & diming my way downward. Still eating HEALTHY..........although Super Bowl Sunday will MOST likely see a
Splurge!
No fast food since Dec. 18th & portion control has been at a maximum. 3 day rehab is going great. Gonna up it to 5 days starting next week.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Thank you and thanks to those that started the thread and has kept it going. It's been one of the few places I look forward to seeing each day and how great everyone is doing.
I finished my first round of P90X, I need to still take my measurements. My numbers on my fitness test greatly improved and I'm excited to start my next round.

Well, here I am...been thinking about getting in on this thread for awhile...but I feel like today is the day!
You are all such a huge inspiration to me and I know you can help me stay motivated!
My biggest and first goal is weight loss. So, I lost about 7 lbs. recently...hoping to keep this trend going. I've been trying to watch what I eat...but this is something I struggle with on a daily basis. I also am getting back into working out. Did step class and some strength training on Wed. and walked on the treadmill for 40 minutes and did the elliptical for 20 minutes today. I also decided today that in order to jumpstart my weight loss I'm going to give up alcohol until my 30th birthday...wish me luck! It's at the end of March, so, it's not the end of the world.
Anyway, I look forward to posting in this thread more often and hearing about your tips, goals, struggles, and successes! I think it definitely helps everyone when we all share our own personal stories about getting healthy.

Hey Stranger!!!
Cutting the booze will do wonders for the weight loss. Another thing that I learned was helpful for me was to not check my weight too often. I used to weigh myself every day or two, and there would be a lot of fluctuation. Better to go three or four weeks in between scale sessions and rely more on how your clothes are fitting and how you're feeling than just what the scale says.
Good luck and welcome aboard!!

Give up alcohol until 30th B-Day......Young Pup!
Sounds like you're off to a great start. And the booze goal until end of March is a good one. Not sure if
I agree with Jack about the daily weigh-in. But, I will say that his theory works for some pholks & the daily weigh-in works for others. The daily weigh-in CAN motivate & it CAN discourage. Nonetheless, keep doing your best & BE POSITIVE!!

I am hoping I can come back to this thread next Jan and Feb just to see how everyone is doing

instead of starting over again.
I am down 21.6 since Jan. 12th. I am doing the HCG diet where you take injections everyday. I was hoping to lose at least 30 by the end on Feb 20th but no looking so likely now. After that I will go into 3 weeks maintenace and then start dieting again to get the next 10 - 15 off. My total Goal was 40 but 50 would be really good!!
Sounds like everyone is doing well Congrats to All!!!!!

I know you can come back here next year without starting over!!! That's an impressive number, great job.
Took my measurements today, so far I'm down:
Waist - 7 inches since starting P90X and 20 inches overall
Hips - 5 inches since starting P90X and 16 inches overall
Chest - 3.5 inches since starting P90X and 14.5 inches overall
Body Fat % in the beginning 42.9%, 32.5% when I started P90X, 23% after my first round.

I did get this
NEW PEDOMETER and I VOW to put over 10,000 steps on it each day!!
Less than $25.00
What I love about this new ped is that it keeps track of how many aerobic steps you do each day for a week.
Sunday was a good day!! Already did 5376 today!
Looks Good....continued good luck w/that
Now.....out of curiousity, we have a big debte going on at wowrk about pedometers, some of us wear them sometimes
![battingeyes [smilie=battingeyes.gif]](./images/smilies/battingeyes.gif)
and others get all riled up about it

Anyway, for those that wear them, do you re-set them to your stride length, or do you just go with the pre-set? and do you find that if the mileage is accurate, if you follow the route with your car and check it?

JC, sounds like you have the right thing going for you!! Congrats to YOU! Maintenance IS my problem. I can eat right for a very long time and when I start losing too much, I bounce back the other way.
Don't know how to stop the YO YO thing. I really need to find a way to live-it instead of diet.

Hey, MO! I did do all the figuring to calibrate the ped to my usual step by measuring the distance of steps 10 steps, etc etc. I know full well that my stride changes with different things I am doing.
I also know one day I said I had walked 10,000 paces and someone said that was 5 miles. Not for me by 10,000 steps seem to be just close to 4 miles. I didn't think I had a stort step, but it must have been a lot shorter than the girl who said that...she IS tall.
I just figure it's all good if you strive to hit 10,000 every day. I know it is not likely to DO IT every day, but ALMOST is good too!
Here is a page about the one I have that I just found and how to calibrate:
There is a short and easy calibration routine that prepares the unit for measuring the distance you?ve walked. First, you have to tell the pedometer the length of your steps. It?s a simple process to walk 10 steps and then measure the distance traveled, divide that by 10, and then you?ve determined the length of your stride. Enter that into the Omron pedometer, along with your weight, and then the device will be able to tell you how many steps you?ve taken, how many miles you?ve traveled, and how many calories you?ve burned in so doing.
