Woo Hoo!

Way to go!

Keep up the momentum.

Well, pretty excited. I did 1.4 miles on my gazelle in 30 minutes today. That is great for me at this point. haven't been able to do that much in quite awhile. Much thanks to all of you here for being such a great group to find encouragement with!! :wench:

It wasn't too entirely sucky! Those 5 minutes get to be pretty long, though. I can sing the 12 Days of Christmas in my head which takes up the 3 minute stretches of running. I need to find something mundane and repetitive to do for the 5 minute stretches.

At some point I have to load up the mp3 player when I get to the longer spans of running. The end of next week (week 5) is the 5 min walk and then 20 mins of straight running. I'll need the 80 days of Christmas for that one!

I can't believe I'm already on week 4 and I actually know I can finish it!!! I thought I'd stay stuck on week 3 for a while, but I made the push to just give week 4 a shot and it is surprisingly comfortable.

I also learned I do need that day of rest in between runs of my feet and knees just hurt too badly. I have to come up with some new running shoes before next week or I'm gonna scream. I have my eye on a nice pair of Asics.

That's a pretty good time/distance. I did 1.4 exactly on the treadmill tonight in 26 minutes. I'm a little short of the 1.75 distance I should be at for that time, but each run I'm shaving some time off and increasing distance, so I figure in my quest for a 5k it will level out.

On a downer note, my weight isn't doing so hot. I'm still down about 5lbs (after being down 8 or 9, I forget). A long weekend of quick meals and comfort food at the hospital did me in. Gettin' low on groceries, too, so will have to buy lunch downtown. The deli in my building has chili made w/ chicken and I can get a small salad. Quite yummy and definitely NOT a McLunch!!

Ok i'm on day three of doing really well so I"ll join up here. I bought a pedometer. For the past three days I've been walking 45 minutes with a 21.2 mile goal.. Breakfast of whole foods non-fat strawberry yogurt with bare naked granola strawberries and bananas. Switched from my daily mocha to a non-fat iced latte. I'm going to do something with swordfish for dinner.
I'm also doing the workout program from women's health magazine. If you go to their website you can take a fitness test and it will create a plan for you. I realized I have no upper body strength.
My current goal is to eliminate refined sugar and white flour, have 5 veggies and 2 fruits a day, fish at least twice a week and complex carbs. I"m also increasing my protein. Oh and the ridiculous amount of water and 4 glasses of green tea a day. Yikes.

I dont know if you are near a tv when you do any of this (dont know if you use a treadmil or run outside), but when I use the treadmil I put in a JB DVD. Anguilla, mini matinee, millennium show, whatever. Takes my mind off the pain of running :D

And remember if you're building muscle, five pounds of muscle weighs the same as five pounds of fat....it just takes up less space....

Great job everybody!

I'm so glad I found this thread, it is great to hear how well everyone is doing!

I have some good news too.

Today I rode my bike to work! Of course that is only half of it as I still have to ride home.

It was good and didn't take me that long even though I was passed by just about everyone else on a bike.

The only downside was showering at the gym since, sure enough, I saw "peens" of several of my co-workers. These included the head of HR and two guys in my department, including the guy who sits right next to me.

In other news I had a good breakfast of fresh fruit (pineapple, strawberry, banana) and a 6oz organic, lowfat yogurt.

I'm going to ride in Tuesday & Thursday and start walking around the campus (~ 1 mile) Monday, Wednesday, Friday during lunch.

When the Wii Fit arrives in a couple weeks I'll add that to my "regiment" as well.

Keep up the good work everyone!

This is a great idea! Think I will give it a whirl.

Only made it a mile today on the Gazelle. But went for a walk outside this afternoon. :wench:

Welcome in Polly Roger!

Looks like everyone is doing a good job staying the course.

Question? How much rum can I get away with and get fit? A friend and I were discussing that we have often heard of a beer belly but not a rum belly. :wench:
