Intake & Output for 5/12/08
B-fast-1/4 peanut butter sandwich, coffee
Cleaned a house (I consider this a form of exercise since it's sort of a job)
Lunch-steak, spinach, baked potato w/butter, diet coke, some chocolate, water
Dinner-2 pieces french toast, milk
Bed-8 black jelly beans
Day three: The others have all abandon me. With no support I find myself wanting to resort to refined sugar, processed white flour, and hydrogenated oils. Don't know how long I can hold out.....hopefully someone with rational thinking will join me soon and talk me down from this post mother's day madness.....5/11 was a day filled with gluttony and drunken abandonment. With I ever live down the horrors that were imposed on my slightly shrinking body. One knows how easy it would be to fall prey to the ever present and haunting call of the refrigerator......

Seriously though, you are doing great and your continued hard work is an inspiration to the rest of us posting and the many more lurkers on this thread!
I'm biking again tomorrow and walked a mile at lunch today and you are helping me stick to my commitment. Every time I see your updates it bolsters my will power to keep going.
Keep fighting the good fight!

dear god the last week has been awful. someone dies and it makes you want to stuff your face. the last time i went for a run was last wednesday and probably won't be able to again until tomorrow night at the soonest. spent way too much time with family to even think about this stuff. i totally have to get back on the wagon soon (my weight hasn't creeped up at all so that's a good thing). i'll ease back into it after the funeral and hit it extra hard on monday.

That's a huge thing to deal with. Take care of yourself and your sweet family first.....everything else will fall back in to place.

Had a doctor's appointment today.......
DOWN THIRTY POUNDS.............actually, down 50 from my highest weight.......
Met with the dietician today....I swear, I've been doing this for so long that I could BE the dietician......I kept waiting for that great tidbit of NEW information that will make all of this a breeze.....yeah, that ain't happenin'
Same old same old.....she did make me feel better as I've been worried about my carb intake.....but she assured me that as long as the carbs are coming from natural sources.....fruits, veggies and the like.....no worries. I stay pretty much away from refined carbs, so all is well.

Great job Paige!!!!!!!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Well, not sure if this is the right place to post this but I will be a PUMPER in 8 weeks.
What's the big deal about that for a male you say?
I've been a type 1 diabetic for 39 years and am still on the old regiment of 2 shots per day to control my blood sugar. I've procrastinated for many, many years on going to the insulin pump and have finally taken the plunge. This decision will increase my quality of life greatly and is a health related issue. As soon as we are back from the OBX (vacation), I will start the transition. I've taken over 30,000 injections over my lifetime so I'm kinda looking forward to it. I will still have to inject the caphiter into my stomach that delivers the insulin from the pump, but only have to change the site every 3 days. I'm real nervous and excited about this, but I'm sure I'll wish I had done it years ago!
