What's the big deal about that for a male you say?

I've been a type 1 diabetic for 39 years and am still on the old regiment of 2 shots per day to control my blood sugar. I've procrastinated for many, many years on going to the insulin pump and have finally taken the plunge. This decision will increase my quality of life greatly and is a health related issue. As soon as we are back from the OBX (vacation), I will start the transition. I've taken over 30,000 injections over my lifetime so I'm kinda looking forward to it. I will still have to inject the caphiter into my stomach that delivers the insulin from the pump, but only have to change the site every 3 days. I'm real nervous and excited about this, but I'm sure I'll wish I had done it years ago!
nice to see you its has been awhile my friend and good luck

I read this gal's blog because of her gluten-free product reviews (she's one of the unlucky few who has Type 1 diabetes AND Celiac Disease--kind of the double whammy of autoimmune digestive disorders). She is also a Type 1 with the insulin pump.

There's a quote from The Devil Wears Prada movie that my wife always jokes about.

"I'm one stomach flu away from reaching my goal weight."

Feel better!

Thank you all for your kind and funny words regarding my flu. I am not a very good sick person. I have a hard time sitting still long enough to let my body heal and I know with the flu you must rest. I just lay here on the couch watching my house go to he!! getting messier and my kids running out of clean clothes and the groceries deplete and go crazy. My husband is very good about filling in during my absence, but I still feel useless. And I can't help wonder how much time it will take me to get back to my normal workout routine, I WAS doing so well and feeling so good about myself.
Thank you for listening to me whine. Today, I'm going across the street to the beach for a few minutes, we're in the middle of a heat wave here and I need a good dose of vitamin D.
Aloha!

I know two children who have pumps and do fine. It has really freed up their lives and steadied their blood sugar levels. And yes, this is a great place to post your good news. Keep us posted on your progress. Good Luck! And have a great vacation!.

Intake & Output for 5/16/08

Flu....but getting better...will be back to posting for real tomorrow.....

Sorry you've been sick (((Ukulady)))

I can sympathize - just Friday at noon I felt completely back to normal. It feels so great to not be sick!

Felt great to do my Gilad Strength and Tone video yesterday. I want to work in more cardio time at the gym. Walking everyday for 30 minutes for the past two weeks has kept me maintaining my weight, but no losses to report.

Intake & Output for 5/19/08

B-fast- 1 egg scrambled w/salsa, 1 piece cracked wheat toast w/butter, coffee
Lunch- Beans w/cheese, salsa and chips, diet coke, 1/2 pkg. m&m's
Snack- 1 lite beer, 2 shots of tequila
Dinner- 2 pieces bacon, 2 small pancakes, water

Feeling much better since my run in w/the flu. My energy level is still very low. I cleaned a house today so I'm counting that as my output. Gotta get back to eating healthy.......I know tequila and white flour pancakes are NOT helping my energy level.

Ukulady glad you're feeling better. It alwasy stinks when you get in a good groove on getting healthy and get hit with something that knocks you out for a bit. You'll be back on track in no time I am sure.

Still doing well working out daily. Been mixing it up between the gazelle and doing DDR for 30+ minutes. DDR makes the time go by quick, but I only do it when I am home alone, someday my feet will keep up with all the steps. Waiting for the twister to get back. Haven't lost any weight yet, kinda bummed on that. Got excited for a few days the scale seemed to show a 4-5lb loss and then in one day difference it jumped back to normal. Can't figure that out, eating and exercising was the same. I am trying to stay off the scale for awhile. Sometimes it is more discoraging than helpful. Peace everyone :wench:
