lesphoto wrote:I'm glad you made it down there. MID and I try to get down when we can. Not nearly often enough. The more you go, the more you'll love it. Enjoy. Outside of MOTM I'd love to hang out with some other BN crew down there. All of the Keys are great to visit. I'm sure someday I'll buy a big enough sailboat and find a nice anchorage and sell pictures of my many visions of KW. Next time you are heading down, let us know. Maybe we'll keep you company!
Good idea! And my friends & I are all seasoned sailors so when you do sail to KW "for good" let us know...... :pirate:

My friends have experience in construction & wedding planning. My wife has taken up making beaded jewelry & plans to sell some of her creations in the near future. All should be reasonable pursuits in Key West, right?

Me? My skills are limited, but I've been told I make a great magarita & mojito...... :o Or maybe the Conch Train needs another driver?

docandjeanie wrote:Ed,

It sounds fantastic. If you want pm me, and I'll give you my email address, maybe you can send me a few and I can upload them.

Here's how to post a picture if you decide to go for it.

Upload your photos to photobucket, flickr or whatever photo hosting site you want to use.

Copy your photo and it must say jpg or gif at the end of it. It must say and then you should be good to go.

I can post a couple for you if you email me, or give it a try.

I'm glad you had a phun time.
Hi Jeanie,

Can I just click on your email tab here at BN and attach some pics?

Also, I'll send you a PM regarding our updated plans for the CBP tailgate party, too.

Thanks,
Ed

P. S. Without a doubt, we had a phun time........ :D

digitalprintman wrote:Sounds like a Helluva visit to the Keys. Glad you had a great time. We always enjoy ourselves in the Keys. Never able to do it all. But just another reason to go back again and again and need I say more.

My girlfriend just received her two pounds of Baby's Coffee that she ordered from their website. The pound that she brought back in February went pretty quick, so she needed a Keys fix. She now saves it for the weekends when she can enjoy it.

Sorry, didn't realize you were driving down from Miami.

One other thing if you are driving down next time. Take the Card Sound Bridge turnoff just south of Florida City. It will be a left turn off of Hwy 1. The toll bridge costs $1.00. Some of the benefits of this way: Pretty drive through the mangroves, almost no traffic, a little further in distance but gets you in the Keys frame of mind. The main benefit, stop at Alabama Jack's just north of the bridge. Have a beer or cocktail and try the best conch fritters in the Keys. Plenty of other great items on the menu along with Key Lime Pie. A fun open air bar and restaurant right on the water. Watch the seagulls and fish and the boats going by. If you are lucky you may even see a manatee swim by. It helps make the rest of your drive more relaxing.

As for the rest of Card Sound Road, you cross the bridge after paying the toll and it is a beautiful view of Biscayne Bay from a fairly tall bridge. Roll on down for a couple of miles and then you come to a T in the road. Take a right and follow the road, it will hook back up with US 1 at the North end of Key Largo.

Can't remember the last time we didn't take this route, unless it was late at night and Alabama Jack's was closed.

Here's the website for Alabama Jack's:

Again, Glad you had PHUN!!!!!!! :P

Yes, I recognize these places and they do bring out a nice smile. Great pictures, Thanks for sharing.

Heck of a first trip to Key West.

Glad you were able to see the Key Deer. So many people think they don't exist because they don't see them on the main road. I have seen a few right off the main road (US 1). But usually if we go back into the neighborhood down from the grocery store, almost always see some there.

Don't worry there are even more things to discover on your next trip.

We never get tired of Key West. There are also many things to do all along US 1:

Pigeon Key (island in the middle of Seven Mile Bridge)

Bahai Honda State Park and Bridge

Dry Tortugas Park

Lobster Reubens and Stone Crab Claws at Keys Fisheries in Marathon

Pat Dailey at Sloppy Joes

The list goes on and on

We are already planning our trip for next February.

Got to admit, there is something about the pizza at No Name Pub.......very yummy! Wonder how many dollar bills there really are inside that place? :o

In fact, it was on our way to No Name Pub that we saw the ley deer, too.

Yeah, that's me with the "Newport" hat & flowered shirt on the beach, wishing to be 30 lbs. lighter.....

As most are aware, but for newbies to KW, the unmarked white building is Shrimpboat Sound, JB's recording studio right in plain view found in the Historic Seaport section of town.

Many thanks to Jeanie for her posting of these pics! :pirate:

Now I fully understand when people say the Keys are a very dangerous place.....if you visit once, you will return again.....

Yes, we do sometimes need that little lift in our lives. That's why I have a picture of the sunset from Mallory Square for my screen saver on my cellphone. It brightens my day in more ways than one.

I also have a picture of Jimmy's Studio on the cellphone and that is what my girlfriend's numbers bring up when she calls. It's also nice to show to Buffett fans that have never been to Key West. They always get a kick out of the size of the building and all the great music that has come out of it.

It's the little things that keep us from going completely crazy!!!!! [smilie=asa.gif]

For some reason, the pictures that Jeanie posted for me are no longer visible. :o

She was also kind enough to introduce me to Photobucket. I've been playing around with it, uploaded a few more pics from my trip, and here's the link: http://s293.photobucket.com/albums/mm45 ... ction=view

Just click on the picture marked "slideshow" and (I think!) it should be working......

We got our directions to No Name Pub from Buffettnews, and it most certainly does exist! It looks like it has been there a long time and will be there a long time to come. It is hard to find. We almost turned around and gave up when we were following the directions, because it looked like an empty lot where the directions said it should be. We said, "Well let's just go across the bridge to No Name Key," and there the pub was just before the bridge. I'll post my photos from there later.

Funny my photobucket photos on page 1 are still there. The key deer we saw was on No Name Key, which has only oyster shell roads, and I think just two of them. We turned on the second one to see what the local houses looked like, and there was the deer!
