There are plenty of places to stay near Jones Beach. The Marriott in Uniondale is next to the Meadowbrook Parkway which will get you to Jones Beach in about 10 minutes. It's a big hotel and the drawback is that it is a bit pricey.
Check for hotels/motels in towns within a 15 minute drive: Wantagh, Merrick, Rockville Center, Uniondale, Bellmore.

We lived in Middletown, Ct in the early '80's. I don't miss that lovely interchange at I-91 and I-84 in Hartford

Just don't pick anything with a Hempstead address.
BTW, when I went to the James Taylor concert Saturday there was a sign just as you drive into the parking lot - NO ALCOHOL
NO BARBECUES
NO TAILGATING
AT ANY TIME.
I've never seen anything like that at a Jones Beach show before.

Well, we'll just have to make sure we abide by those rules on August 27th

McGill-Toolen Catholic High School provides a quality secondary education which enables individuals to grow in faith, to search for knowledge and truth in mind, body, and spirit, and continue building the kingdom of God on earth. By active involvement in the learning process, students are prepared for lives of Christian leadership and service.

Well, they've always had no alcohol signs here at Walnut Creek, but obviously nobody worried about that or enforced anything when Jimmy was here last.

Jones Beach is a state park and you're not allowed to have alcohol in state parks in NY, you can't even buy a beer at the concession stands when you go inside. But as long as you don't walk around the lot with a bottle or can you should be fine. We've never had any problems with the state park police in the lot. At one Buffett show, a police officer told us to cover the liquor bottles with a towel or a blanket so he wouldn't see them the next time he drove by. I've always thought the police only give you a hard time if you give them a reason to.

I couldn't even imagine those rules coming close to being followed for a Buffett show at Jones Beach. Maybe someone could launch an overnight covert op to take the signs down the night before the show...lol
Or at least add the line except for Jimmy Buffett concerts!!
