Jack & Dave Sing Jimmy

Just stumbled in from an amazing Kokua Fest out here in Waikiki. Mason Jennings, Dave Matthews With Tim Reynolds, Matt Costa, and Jack Johnson all played some incredible stuff.
For the encore, Dave came out with Tim and joined Jack on A Pirate Looks At 40. It was the first song they've ever played together and it was killer. Made me wish Jimmy could make it out here for one of the Kokua shows.
Aloha!

If you search Kokua 2008 on Youtube you can hear about 30 seconds of the song...It sounds awesome, and I want to hear the rest. Anyone know where to find it, or where it might end up being posted?! Im guessing more videos will get posted on youtube in a couple days, but I dont want to wait that long!

I could care less...Dave, Jack, and Tim covering my favorite Buffett tune...Hard to beat! BUT....I agree Dave sounded a little out of his element. Whatever, it was still awesome!

I dont think they do it anymore, but about 10 years ago Dave and Tim would do a college tour. Small venues only, all acoustic set. I saw them at the University of Missouri...One of the best shows I've ever been to. I think they played for almost four hours...Awesome!
Im going to see Dave at Bush stadium in St. Louis, and in Memphis this summer. In Memphis he's playing with Willie Nelson...Im stoked!

Dave and Tim played a wonderful set last night. I went in not thinking I'd enjoy their stuff but it was solid.
Jack Johnson blew me away. He popped up just as folks were entering the venue to play an unannounced acoustic set on a side stage for the kids. He did a wicked White Stripes cover, a few of his kiddie songs, and even invited all the kids on stage to dance. It was one of those "did that just happen" moments at a show and the first band had not even started. His set to end the night was a blast. He came out for what I figured to be an encore and played a long acoustic set without his band and then brought out Dave and the others to cap the night in style.

That was pretty cool! I've heard Jack Johnson do A Pirate Looks at 40 before, but not with Dave. Just goes to show you, a lot of people know that song!

I almost wet my pants when they started playing this song. I had to look at my friend & ask if I was really hearing what I thought I was hearing!
Kokua Festival was awesome. Dave & Tim were solid as usual. Jack just put me in a great mood. Awesome experience!

I'd be hard pressed to think of a song Dave's voice was made for.
