I'm so sick of notanywhereclosetoreality tv. I don't watch AI, but I am subjected to whatever the scandal du jour is on every other program I watch.
at least 2, simon's new contract runs for 2 more seasons after this one....

I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

It continues to amaze me how Fox has been able to scam the public into giving a $h!t about a karaoke contest.

Yep. Even though the ratings are down this year. The show still finishes in the Top 5, if not Top 2, every week.

There's a sucker born every minute.

And it's not only Fox. Aren't there dozens of versions of this show, tailored for each country it airs in?

You are correct. You haven't heard singing until you've seen Saudi Idol.

Do the Canuckian Idols have to sing in both English and French?

Yes. The only song they can sing is "Are you sleeping, are you sleeping, Dormez vous? Dormez vous?"

I have no problem with Cyndi's accent, but I think she was a little too big of a star for AI. (She had more than two hits.)

Actually, Paula had 5 #1 hits and 3 more that reached the Billboard Top Ten.

I wouldn't miss Paula though. Ottocal nailed it earlier in the AI thread when he said:

Paula gives one of her apologetic rambling responses: “It’s okay that you screwed the pooch on that song, because... You’re you... And Rainbows... And it doesn’t matter if you s***, because... You are wonderful.”

When she's drunk (or whatever) she's very hard to watch, and I'm tired of seeing the tops of her boobs pushed up to her neck.

Personally, I'd like to see Bette Midler on the panel. Simon wouldn't know what hit him!!! 8) :pirate:

Elton John is kind of a girl. Elton should be worth close to a billion pounds (or Euros) BUT it sounds like he spends it faster than he makes it so maybe he could use the gig.

Barry Manilow is more of a girl than Elton and Barry has that whole uselessness thing as a credential.

Maybe one of them would be interested.

If they want an actual girl, I'd vote for Madonna. Some may think she is too "A" list. I disagree. The NPR review of her just released CD is that she is basically begging to get noticed and feel relevant 25 years after her debut. I think she would get in scratching/biting fights with Simon. That would actually get me to watch that insipid show.

Leave her on, replace her, it doesn't matter. Everyone on the show could look like the girl in my avatar and I still wouldn't watch it.
