Interesting and sounds like so much fun.
I don't do shrooms...allergic.
And I don't know anything about "magic mushrooms" or psilocybin. Is it really a magic kind of medicine no doctor can prescribe?

OMG - best thing ever in an omelet!
But I hate, HATE, HATE going 'shrooming. I was terrified of the musty woods as a kid, and my mom LOVED to go do that stuff. And I always got lost. But toss a morel omelet in front of me, or just pan fried in a bit of salted butter, and holy crap, that's some good noms!

Shroom season is January and February here. I've found some very tasty stuff over the years...including a batch of morels that sprouted in some mulch outside a building I worked in once upon a time.
Caveat: If you don't know what you're doing, don't eat that mushroom! Have it identified by a professional. The life you save could be your own.

This is true....you hear about it mostly with the Matsutakes which are usually more lucrative.....and considered to have aphrodisiac qualities.....

What a great load! Eat well!
We have been shroomers a time or two. Did you ever try my tip to saute them with garlic butter?
Hey have you checked out shroomery.org?

That article mentioned liberty caps. I hadn't heard those words since the 70's when I lived in Idaho. Caps, Mescal and going to the Indian Bathtubs or Sawtooth. Whew, the stories I could tell!
Update on the morels: I think I have developed an allergy to them. I got sick off of them 2 years ago but I contributed that to the shrimp I ate with them. None last year. I got sick off of the batch this year. I've eaten panfulls of these shrooms for 20 years w/o any problems. This really sucks.....

The only time I get sick from them is when I eat a lot of them with milk gravy, sauces or cheese. I know peeps love the deep fried ones dipped in dressings and gravies. NO can do.
I can usually eat some sauteed in butter or marinated, but I don't take chances. I hate that SICK feeling.

Both times they were rolled in flour and pan fried in butter. But I did eat a whole pan full. Maybe being a hog about it is part of the problem. I was deathly ill. I won't be able to eat anymore this year for sure. The thought of it makes me want to hurl.
My boss told me "I told you to stay away from eating things from the forest floor!"

what can I say, going green made me green this year.
