Tile DIY question

I have done tiling before but my question is how hard is it to cut tumbled Travertine tiles w/o using a wet saw or do I need to break down and rent one? I have used a circular saw with a blade you can use to cut through stuff like concrete but am not sure it will work here. Also what about those inexpensive cutters they sell which sort of scores the file back of the tile and then you break em. Suggestions???

The wet saw will do the best job......a diamond blade on a circular saw will cut it but if there is any inconsistency in the stone it will break and spall....

Not familiar with the type of tile you're using, but I've done a reasonable amount of tile work. You DO need a wet saw, but the key is NOT to get in a hurry (which renting something always makes me do.)
You can pick up a cheap (plastic) wet saw at Lowes for ~$ 65 that does a decent job, although it's probably not as fast as a commercial saw.
I bought one several years ago and have used it for a big laundry room, three bathrooms, a couple of kitchens, a dining room or two... and probably something else. Changed the blade a couple of times, but it's still running.
Something like this:

Good luck.
