Starbucks Pike Place Roast

Post by Afternoon Golfer »

What do you guys think about this coffee? Here in CT they brew a bold and Pike Place until noon then just Pike Place the rest of the day. It is too mild for me.

I haven't tried it yet and am looking forward to some comments. Please compare to some other common blends, especially Verona and Sumatra. I am thinking it is just a marketing ploy to increase sales. I can't imagine it being much different than their House Blend, just repackaged to appeal to the "coffee snobs"

I kind of like it...I've been getting a free tall one each Wednesday thanks to a coupon in Newsday! :D

They gave away free samples when it first came out, I wasn't impressed. The only thing it has going for it is it doesn't taste burnt like Starbucks coffee usually does.

I get a venti bold every morning. Milk and one Splenda. Milk and one Splenda in a venti Pike Place is way too sweet. It isn't bad, I just prefer a deeper flavor. I like French Roast, Italian Roast, etc.

Perhaps a bit o' Jameson & some whipped cream would be a fine addition to it...

I get a grande w/ 2 splendas and half-n-half and it is just fine. I'm not super picky about it. Anything that tastes better than gas station coffee is fine w/ me.

I usually make it at home, thanks to my boy popcorn.

I wonder how much money I would save making it at home? A venti here is $2.07.

I only drink Starbucks coffee because it's what they serve in the cafeteria and it's free.

We have free Starbucks in the office as well. Usually Verona if it's made or Breakfast Blend if it's not. We've been out and about a lot lately so it's been a lot of stop-for-coffee days.

I'm the only one who drinks it at home and I only know how to use the coffee maker to make about 8 cups at a time so it's not always practical to make my own.

I don't have a coffeemaker in my apartment. I guess I should get one in case someone comes over for dinner and breakfast and she likes her morning coffee.

...Wasn't aware of this coffee.....but the name makes sense...Pike Place Market is a bit of an over priced tourist trap these days....(the place where the fish mongers throw the salmon through the crowd of touristas and sing songs...)....so if it is mild and flavorless...perhaps it is just a reflection of the place it is named for....??? :o :o :o    :D

I get the french roast beans from Safeway and crank my espresso machine up to get the flavor right .... Love that automatic machine!!!! :D :D :D :D

I just go to the expresso stand at the Cheveron on the way to I5 and get a double mocha with 1/2 shot of rasperry served by the nicest person and I'm good for the day!!
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

Next time you're in hartford stop in for a nice Columbian Dark Roast.
