I was wondering if anyone from NY has had a chance to visit this.
I saw a story about it on ESPN, looks like it is a must visit place for fans of any sport.

I haven't gone yet. According to what I've read you can't just walk up to the entrance, buy a ticket and go in.
Timed Entry Ticketing
To maintain the best possible experience for our guests, we have restricted the number of visitors who may enter SmA at one time. Accordingly, all tickets to the Sports Museum of America are date and time specific. Entry times are scheduled every 15 minutes, starting at the top of each hour and ending 90 minutes prior to closing. Guests may enter at any time within the 15-minute period following the time specified on the ticket. If you miss your timed entry, every effort will be made to accommodate you during the next available time slot.

That seems to be the way now, I know the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coke have timed ticket entrance.
