Since we had such a nice chat about the auto checkouts...
I work Monday to Friday and don't often have the chance to
mail .. or wait in line... to send off packages...
but the self serve thingie is cool. I sent off 15 envelopes in about 20 minutes today.. (Sunday) and no lines...
I have used it quite a few times. over the years.. and I love it.. We.. (Yes Boise) got one of the first ones a few years back

anyone??
adam.. I hope this isn't affecting your job..

I've used it a time or 2, but usually go to our local private postal service.

A couple post offices around here have 24 hour kiosks where you can buy postage stamps. Not sure what other options are available with them as I've only bought stamps from them. Of course the postal service is kicking about 400 of us out into the street by Nov. 14th as our Remote Encoding Center facility is being shut down so I'm not thrilled with them right now.

Every employee at the firm where I work has a personal account we can charge things to. We also have a mailroom with a postage meter so I charge postage to my personal account. I hardly ever go to the post office anymore.

these just sell postage (scale and printer) you still have to drop the
package in the slot..

Used a self-serve package kiosk in the lobby of the P.O. at Christmas time. It was great. There was a line, but shorter than the one inside. And it was quite user-friendly.

love them - my only complaint seems like the machine doesn't always work on the off hours ----

When I shipped regularly...5-10 packages a day, I used to enjoy stopping in at the local post office to say hi to the staff and chat a little. Even if they had self service I wouldn't use it. Now at the other post office, where I have had issues with the clerks...I would use it. In my warped mind it is different from the supermarket.

I bought a postal scale and use Click and Ship for most of my packages....
Click & Ship
Then schedule a pick up right at my house.....it's wonderful when I go on ebay selling frenzies and have several packages!
You get a bit of a discount on international shipping and always free delivery confirmation if you use it!
If, for some reason, I can't use c & s, I do use the self serve deal....our postal lines are quite often brutally long....
