. . suppose you had $500 that needed to be hidden . .
. .we were talking about preparing Hurricane Kits today . .and it got me wondering . .
. .say, you needed to hide some $$ from a potential burglar or maybe another person . . or whatever . .
. .what ideas could you come up with as a way to have it accessible . .yet " never in a million years would someone think to look THERE " . .? ?
. .I thought of hiding it in an old CD case . . but a $500 bill probably wouldn't do me much good in a Hurricane situation . .

I don't think I would want to advertise where I am hiding it.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

pry up a piece of doorway molding somewhere in your house, slip the bills behind it and tap it back into place. i suggest using molding in a part of your house that you're reasonably sure will still be there after the hurricane.

You better tell me where you hide yours, just in case!
Me? Probably in an opened box of raisins in the pantry that expired in 2005. (between bag and box)

Since most burglars are men, I'd hide it in a tampon box. No guy will go near those.

a $500 bill wouldn't do you much good in ANY situation since they don't actually exist.

Hide it in the closet in a zippered or buttoned pocket of pants or something. Or stuffed into the toe of a weird pair of boots. Or clean out a shampoo bottle that is opaque, put sand in the bottom half and stuff the bills there and put it on the bathtub shelf. Or put the bills in an envelope, then in a ziploc bag and put it under the cat litter.
Do not resent growing old. Many are denied the privilege.

I was also going to say tampon box.
In the core of a full roll of toilet paper in the back of your sink cupboard.
In a ziplock baggie in the freezer....you could kick it up a notch by filling the bag with water to disguise it.... by the time you would need the $, it would be thawed in the heat!
In a baggie in your flour or sugar container.
But, I hid my extra checks for my checkbook so well when I went on my last vacation (almost a year ago) that I still can't find them or remember wher I put them!!!!

They don't make $500 bills anymore, $100 is the highest denomination.
(I have a $500 bill at home)
But to answer the question, I'd probably hide it in my wallet. I open it so rarely that nobody would think to look there.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

I have a habit of hiding money and forgetting where I put it. It is a system that works well since I often find it at a time when i could use it. Places I"ve hidden money= in a stuffed animal tear, in a vase, in a book, inside an old incense burner, etc. But it's usually not more then $100.
My father used to do this. Once we got a new refrigerator and he found money that he'd put in the bottom of the ice bin in the freezer many years ago. It was a bit of a party time.
