How many golfers we got here???

Post by Staredge »

I was reading one of the golf rags this month, and they were talking about how to set up a handicap. Now, you have to be a member of a club to estasblish one, but the interesting part was that if you don't have a local club, you can establish a virtual golf club under USGA rules.

Soft Shell Golf & Country Club anyone????? 8) [smilie=grinz.gif]

I am a Marketing and Membership Director for a Private Country Club. I know there are fees involved and they prefer your records from one club; one that where you have established your skills. Not saying there is a possibility of being at a few clubs. I have only heard of one club.

Some of our members belong to a few clubs.

I agree with Tommy!
A couple years ago I was riding the back up beer cart at a charity outing
and I got "bucked off" The guys who was driving had taken the governor
off the cart and was going WAY too fast. Plus we were sitting 3 up on the
front seat. We were on gravel so I ended up with a severe case of road
rash. We probably should have gotten a DUI in the golf cart that day!

My handicap is my delusional belief that I can play. My nickname isn't "El Ocho, the Fall Apart Kid" for nothing.

I've found that I enjoy my golf a LOT MORE since I QUIT drinking on the course.
I used to shoot in the low, mid-80's and while "enjoying" a few pops
out there I would get more and more PI$$ED off at my "errors",
even occasionally throwing my clubs back at my bag.
On one particular instance, I heaved my 7-iron in disgust, and it hit the golf cart and snapped it off at graphite midshaft.
The golfhead end goes off like a tomahawk, stabbing into the turf right behind my buddy! :o
He never saw it, but I was pretty shaken... and I've given up beer ON the course ever since.

...now, the 19TH HOLE is a whole other story!! :P :P :P
$#@&...only Vegas again?? Padres ...gotta start believin'!Bring on '14 Spring Training!

The system our club uses is the GHIN system, like Tommy's.

It doesn't matter where you play, you turn in your score to your club and there is a slope and adjustment built in to get a handicap index.

WE pay a $2.00/month fee and our club posts the scores for us and we are not allowed to. WE can check all the scores a club turns in for a player though through the handicap lookup. http://www.ghin.com/lookups/main.asp

I'm not proud of my 26!! That's gotta come down some day. :) Long gone are the days of SWEET 16. :)

I usually don't drink when I play. It usually makes me play worse than usual and is too hard on the body in hot Texas weather.

I'm not a great golfer by any means but I have been getting better.

Yesterday I missed getting a hole in one twice by the smallest of margins. The first one was a 150 yard par 3 and left it short by about 12 inches and the next one was a 192 yeard par 3 and rolled it an inch to the left the pin and then rolled a few feet past.

Ugh
Each day is better than the next.

I play at lot for my my job, all my customers love to golf! I shoot 77-85 most days, but when I am with customers they always win by at least one stroke!

I've just started, so I haven't even played a round yet. Been spending my time working on my short, medium, and long game. [smilie=giggle.gif] Figured I'd rather get the basics down than going out & flailing around the links getting frustrated. I have a 18 hole par 3 course nearby (90-130 yds/hole) & I'll probably start playing this week. Got my shots pretty straight, just need to dial in my distance for each club and work on not topping the ball.
