Why I Need to Listen to Jimmy Buffett........

Post by Bfan53 »

I've really been enjoying the many concert replays over the Memorial Day weekend on Radio Margaritaville. Funny how many times I've caught myself smiling and even laughing out loud to the song lyrics and concert comments by JB (He's still the best at that!).....

Got to thinking, with all the negatives in the news today, maybe we all need JB, his music, and his wit more than ever before......

While I realize that, as always, much good is done everyday by people around the world, the 24/7 news constantly reminds us of things like:
> Rising oil prices with no end in sight & the effect on everything else from food to consumer products;
> That creates inflation & a declining standard of living;
> Earthquakes in China & deadly tornadoes in the US;
> Declining bee populations & its effect on food production worldwide;
> Continued deaths in Iraq & Afganistan;
> Never-ending hatred in the Middle East & elsewhere....

The bad news won't quit & even the most optimistic person can find himself a bit depressed.........

So, yes, play on JB. You still make me smile......... :pirate:

His music is my escape. Takes me to my own 'Island Time' state of mind. Even living here, a Buffett CD seems to do the trick when normal life gets in the way. :wink:

When people ask me what the appeal of Jimmy's music is I always say "It's almost physically impossible to feel depressed when you listen to it." And I agree, we need it now more than ever.

Thanks Jimmy! [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

If I wanted to feel depressed when I listened to music, I'd listen to Britney Spheres, or Jessica Simpson, or Ashlee Simpson, or Justin Timberlake, or ...

I'll stop now

Jimmy has songs to fit all moods.

When I listen to the live concerts, it takes me back to those places and times.

LIVE shows are always so upbeat! It's nice to hear all those this weekend.

I love the comments Jimmy makes and eventhough a lot of it is the same old stuff, there are always those little INSIDE remarks he makes that make them so timely.

Relistening to Frisco show, I heard Jimmy say " Living in the sunshine...listening to Walker, Willis and Kinky, singing those Texas rhymes."

Right now Little Miss Magic plays over and over in my mind and I catch myself singing it all the time.

The coolest thing about learning to play the uke is I can now play many of my favorite Jimmy tunes, his incredible music just sings through me, I don't play it well, I don't play it for anyone else, I just play it 'cuz it makes me happy inside....and it's ever so cool when my 'keets grab a uke and play his music with me.

I listen because there are songs for all the seasons of my life. Through tough jobs, life changes, Breast Cancer challenges, etc. Songs that make me dream, smile, dance, and elevate my day. His lyrics are what sets him apart from everyone. Plus, being able to picture his enthusiam and joy in what he does - and that brillian smile and twinkling eyes! It's always a Jimmy Buffett day!
