After cooking, or just even making a sandwich, do you clean up counter tops or the stove from crumbs and other assorted food mess?

Yeah, it's a pet peeve.

YES! I am a neat freak, I have come home during lunch to clean my house even if I had just cleaned it the night before. I have a big enough house where I should hire a cleaning service but I don't think they could do as good of a job as I can.

I do sometimes.
I am fairly tidy by nature. I don't make much of a mess, so there's not much mess to clean up. (I try to approach things from the "Ounce of prevention..." point of view.) So I clean up as I go along.
But I am as guilty as the next person of not "cleaning" after I am done cooking. Cleaning time is Cleaning time. Cooking time is followed by Eating time.

Heck I'm so meticulous that after making a Margarita with my FCM, I usually clean it out and the glass...
Now granted I really don't eat at home much but when I do I usually try to straighten up.....
(Don't really know if this needs to be a guy/girl thing

I live somewhere in between. Anything raw....immediate hot soapy clean-up. Crumbs? depends on the mood.
Now the real question? .... When you drop an ice cube on the floor do you bend over and pick it up, let it melt there, kick it somewhere else and let it melt?

My dogs live for when an ice cube falls to the floor.....if they hear the ice coming out of the freezer, they race to see if one falls.....problem solved here!Barefoot Gypsy wrote:I live somewhere in between. Anything raw....immediate hot soapy clean-up. Crumbs? depends on the mood.

....as for the counter top/stove thing....I have a glass top stove and I hate it when it looks icky.....counter tops are wiped with antibacterial wipes....if I'm home....they look like hell if I'm not.....but they are always cluttered with 'stuff'.....just not gunk.

Yes I do and this is an ongoing war in my house. I have a pretty new stove. The old one had black spots that wouldn't come off around the burner so I"m trying to prevent this. I get irritated when somebody doesn't wipe off the stove because if it sits for hours I now have to use soft scrub to remove the mess when if it had been done when it happened a damp cloth would have done it. I'm also trying to cut down my use of chemicals and this doesn't help. I also hate when they don't wipe up their little coffee spots off the counter for the same reason.
