I haven't stripped any thing myself in years and don't want too either, so I feel for you. You might try renting an orbital sander, it faster and heavier duty than the palm sanders for taking paint and stuff off. Just remember to change the paper often and start with a coarse grit. I doesn't take to long to clog the paper up.

I realize that you are probably doing this your self to save some $$, but did you get a quote from one of the professional cabinet refacers? It might be worth it to pay someone to do it quickly. Between the chemicals, time and mess. Arrrghhh.

May want to consider getting a heat gun. I'm using one to strip old paint off my front porch, does a good job bubbling up the paint for me to scrape off.

I haven't read all the thread, but did anyone suggest a chemical stripper?
I've used one and it was great!
No smell and easy to use

You have to have a good steady Pole, with plenty of room. A dollar bill changer, Oh wait wrong stripping!
Here is a couple of links I found! Best of luck in this project! It sounds like a lot of work!

I think we're going to consider new doors and just stripping/repainting the cabinet boxes, or doing the DIY refacing
http://www.cabinetdoordepot.com/. Haven't decided if I want to be that adventurous, though. Either way, the cabinet boxes will have to be redone.
We have one other possibility and that is a place called "Extras"
http://www.extrabuild.com/ which stocks knotty alder cabinets. We're going to price those and see if new makes more sense than re-dux. I've heard the only other thing that tests a marriage more than hanging wallpaper together is hanging cabinets together.

(I am anti-wallpaper).
