Just Jimmy and his guitar

Post by Missydv »

I don't know about the rest of you PH's, but my favorite part of Jimmy's concerts are when it's just him and his guitar playing. I know he tends to also bring out Mac to help with the guitar part, but it was really great when it was just Jimmy and Fingers...ah that brings back some great memories. Anyway, the point I'm getting at is, I really wish he'd release a CD of just those moments. I've bought all of his CDs and the ones I enjoy the most are the early ones that are much less "produced" than anything that's been released lately. I don't need all those horns, back up singers, ect, just Jimmy and his music. I don't even need any new songs, so it wouldn't be too much extra work for him to make one. I found an adress for Mailboat, and am assuming that would be the place to write to in order to make a request known, but I don't know for sure. So if anyone else feels like I do, here's the adress:
Mailboat Records, 1100 Glendon Avenue, Suite 1100, Los Angelels, CA 90024. Maybe if many of us wrote in a request for such a CD (if you are as interested in it as I am) they would make note of it and hopefully do something about it. Just a thought.....
Yesterday's over my shoulder, so I can't look backwards too long. There's just to much to see waiting in front of me and I know that I just can't go wrong!

I'd love to see him put out an accoustic album...kinda like when MTV did the "Unplugged" series that Clapton, Kiss and a bunch of other bands did. I'd definitely buy a CD if he put it out.

Been to a few concerts where Jimmy's final encore was APLA40, just him and his guitar. So amazing. I got goose bumps and leaky eye disorder at the same time. I'd love a Jimmy "un-plugged" CD :D

TCC & TTRWHS acoustic final encores :o :o :o it was awesome :D

my ultimate favorite final encore was In My Room/TIJNMG (Frisco 2007)..... OMG.... acoustic with band.... then Mac & Jimmy for TIJNMG then only Jimmy! I had leaky eye at the end of those songs!

APLA40 is also a chills song!

Just Jimmy and the guitar was how I fell in love with his storytelling. While I love all the who-ha of a tour, I really hope I live long enough to see him and the guitar one more time. :D

Agreed! I would love a "professional" version like those three Montessori benefit shows he did a few years back.

Here's a thought.......

The "Mac & Me Acoustic Only Tour"

Just JB and Mac together on stage with just acoustic guitars.
They would play small venues (The Beacon Theater in NY, Tower Theater in Philly, etc.).
Maybe a dozen or so shows over 3 weeks in the springtime before the summer tour starts, or in November/early December.

This would be VERY COOL!!!!!!!!!!

I have no problem with Jimmy doing something like he did on the beach of Anguilla....just do it for an entire (double length :D) CD. Jimmy, Mac, Peter Mayer on guitar and Jake on uke, Robert Greenidge with a single steel drum and Tina and Nadirah singing backup.

I was lucky enough to see him do two shows with "the original Coral Reefer Band" (Jimmy and his guitar) and they are my favorites too. I saw him do benefit shows in East Hampton and Martha Clara Vineyard and they were both amazing. He tells stories between songs and I agree he can make a nice CD by mixing up some of these performances.

That's my idea of a "perfect" JB concert.......I'd be willing to pay most anything (notice I did say "most") to see him in that setting. :pirate:

Since I doubt I ever will, a CD/DVD of that kind of performance would be great! [smilie=coolup.gif]

The E. Hampton show was amazing, and Martha Clara was incredible too (but just too short :D
