ACK! I'm naked today!!
I left home in a haze this morning... my cell phone is on an end table, and I'm at work!! I feel so disconnected from the world!!

Typically the only person who calls me on my cell phone is hubby, so a day without my phone ringing is a welcome one. Plus, he ass-dials me at least twice a day. My cell phone is mostly for making outgoing calls and sometimes texting stuff. I can send pictures via text now, though, that is pretty nifty.

I had no idea people cared if they didn't have their phone for a few hours. to each our own I guess. I go weeks sometimes without my cell. its like paradise.green1 wrote:drunkpirate66 wrote:ACKalackadingdong.green1 wrote:Ackawack?drunkpirate66 wrote:ACK . . . I didn't know that they had doorbells.

I agree completely. There is something freeing when you know that you are disconnected. That there is a time period, even if it is simply in the car, that you cannot be reached. Solitude in the hyperconnectivity that is today's rat race.drunkpirate66 wrote:I had no idea people cared if they didn't have their phone for a few hours. to each our own I guess. I tend to misplace my whole purse.
The last time I left my purse I drove about 75 miles to meet a friend and left it with the phone in it at home. It's very hard to find a pay phone anymore and I had to make do until I got home. Needless to say I drove very carefully as my driver's license was also in my purse.
I felt more lost without my phone than anything!

I completely understand, and only wish I was in "that place". My reaction is situational - I was in that place, on island time, over the weekend - it was great, and I couldn't have cared less! However, in my current back to reality, I feel like I'm missing important connections.green1 wrote:I agree completely. There is something freeing when you know that you are disconnected. (But, my youngest finally figured it out, and dialed my work number to reach me.)

Tom runs somewhere without his phone about once a week- I always notice it when I try to call him to add one more thing to the list.
I couldn't do anything with my phone at my old job, so I'm kind of over it, but once the business gets started I'm sure it will be a tether.
