Jimmy Buffett got Stoopid in Philadelphia
Everyone who was in Philadelphia at the Citizens Bank Park show on June 14th probably heard the music being blasted in the stadium before G. Love's set & before Jimmy's set when it started pouring down rain & thundering.
I went into the stadium pretty early so I could catch Garrett's short set, but was way happier with the music being played. About 75% of the songs being blasted while Parrotheads filed in were songs by the reggae/ska/dub/punk/rock band called Slightly Stoopid. I asked Garrett the next day if Stoopid songs were being played all the time because of him, because he is good friends with the band, but he said no, he had no say in the music being played. This got me more stoked.
A few of the songs being played by Stoopid during that time were "2 AM", "Round the World", "Officer", "Fat Spliffs", etc.
I suggest everyone check them out. I have done some freelance work for them, & they are byfar one of my favorite bands. They're amazing live, too. I am going to about 4 of their shows this year, including flying out to Colorado for their headlining Red Rocks show in August.
Stoopid has collaborated with G. Love & Special Sauce, Guru, Money Mark of the Beastie Boys, Half Pint, Yellowman, Fishbone, etc. & have toured with Pepper, G. Love, Sly & Robbie, Fishbone, 311, etc. They are very well-accomplished, playing to 3,000-10,000 people a night all around the nation. They were discovered by Bradley Nowell of Sublime in 1995, before Bradley passed away. They were signed to Bradley's label, Skunk Records, but now have their own successful record label, Stoopid Records. They reside in Ocean Beach, San Diego. They will be touring with Pepper & Sly & Robbie this summer. They have a new album coming out this summer called Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid, a rerelease of their EP with new tracks added to it.

How ironic you post this on the very week that I found them and just this weekend downloaded many of their songs. My keet had left a cd in the car and I heard this song that I really liked. Asked her who they were, looked them up on Itunes and found out I really liked lots of their music. They are now added to my "Summer" playlist that we listen to out by the pool and when we have parties.
Now the keet says today as we lay around the pool that now when she hears them she will think of me. Now is that such a bad thing for a 19 year old? I think not..........might keep her out of trouble.

Awesome!
Yay! Haha. I love spreading the word about these guys because they are extremely talented. Been around for about 15 years now. I recommend their cd, Closer to the Sun or Chronchitis (which debuted on the Billboard top 50... the first time an independent band has done so on their own record label)... they have quite a few cds out, & all of them are good. Their new one being released next month is great because it has a mix of genres on it... reggae, dub, punk, bluegrass, etc. It comes out July 22nd.
You didn't miss too much when you missed G's set... maybe I have just seen him too many times. lol. I'm not a big fan of his divaness but he is a great performer & very talented.
Hope y'all can catch Stoopid in a city near y'all! They are heading to Philly! Tickets usually sell out a few days before the shows or at least the day of. Pepper is touring with them, & that's another band that should be checked out if you're into the whole reggae/ska/dub scene. They are also amazing live, & are huge as well. In fact, they're not playing in Myrtle Beach with Stoopid during the tour cuz the House of Blues is too small to have both bands perform on the same night together because they're both such huge acts. The thing with Pepper is that they're not as experimental with their music like Stoopid is. Stoopid does over a dozen genres, but Pepper keeps just the reggae/ska genre.
