Which Summer Movie(s) are YOU Most Excited about?

Post by MileHighPirate »

Hi everyone.

Wondering how many movie buffs might be out there.

Big Movie Guy here (to say the least).

With The Summer Season of Movies here (aka The Popcorn, Leave Your Brain at the Door Season), wondering what films you're interested in seeing.

Random, quick thoughts:

Indy IV was horrible.
IRON MAN is probably My Favorite Summer Movie So Far this year.

Films I'm looking forward to:

WALL-E
I've got some friends who work in Hollyweird and it's supposed to be great
Comes out June 27th

DARK KNIGHT: IMAX PRESENTATION
4 action sequences were filmed (for the first time in Movie History) with IMAX Cameras during a Hollywood Production. Thought BATMAN BEGINS was solid. This should blow the roof off the air-conditioned theaters across America. Comes out July 18th. Seeing it in IMAX. No doubt about that.

THREE SUMMER COMEDIES I WANT TO SEE

PINEAPPLE EXPRESS - August 8th
TROPIC THUNDER - August 15th
and
THE FOOT FIST WAY - In very limited release NOW.

What looks good to YOU?

I'm anxious to see Dark Knight...I don't know why but I'm also intrigued by Don't Mess With The Zohan (Adam Sandler is overdue for a decent comedy although Reign Over Me was an awesome serious film)

probably not. it's a pretty intense storyline, that whole 1-2-3 prequel sets the stage for everything to come later

I'm looking forward to WALL-E. We were watching Finding Nemo on ABC a while back, and the previews for it were damn funny.

Plus, we always take the kids to a movie or two at the drive in theater, this will likely be the drive in movie this summer.

WAll-E

Not much worth spending 10.00 a ticket for in July other then

The Dark Knight July 18

The rest such as "The Life and Work of Dr Hunter Thompson", "Mr Winnipeg", "Mongol" play in Art Houses, and there aren't any in driving distance.

However, on Tuesdays I get in for free at a Clearview Cinema, I can always do "Get Smart". Other then that, I can wait the 10-12 months for the pay TV window on many of the formula movies.

Far cry from the 40-50 movies I went to a year in the 90's. :(

Little side note, Stan Winston who worked on many summer blockbusters as a visual effects artist died last week.

Should be worth it

Post by MileHighPirate »

Wow. Just spent $13.50 today on an advanced ticket for

THE DARK KNIGHT: IMAX PRESENTATION.

Should be worth it though. Going mainly because of the inside word that the 4 BIG action sequences were filmed with IMAX cameras.

Tix for THE DARK KNIGHT have just gone onsale almost a month in advance as of today.

Seeing the first showing at MIDNIGHT on IMAX on Thursday, July 17th.

The Joker and Batman at MIDNIGHT with some crazed fans.

Should be something. That next day will surely be a blur.

Saw the Indiana Jones movie, didn't think it was all that bad. Want to see Wall-E and the new Will Smith movie Hancock. Wife and I will usually go to a matinee showing, only 5.50 a ticket where we go.
