Ha ha.
Who said he was done? Is there a notice out there that I haven't seen that says he is out?
Two things with the franchise tag. First they will need him next year, so they put the franchise tag on him to protect his status as a Patriot. Second: If they do decide to deal him, they will get much more for him as a franchised QB than say a free agent who contract is expired or expiring.

It's just a guess. And usually those kinds of guesses are pretty spot on. All they're saying is he's worth more than Brady. I think that says enough. And that obviously shows where their minds are at.

Actually, Brady will make something like 15 mil next year, and with the franchise tag, they'd have to pay Cassel around 14 mil. So, they're not saying Cassel is worth more by any means.

The difference between them, at this moment, is that Cassell can play. What I don't get is if Brady does heal but isn't exactly ready, then what will they do if they trade Cassell? I know tagging him prevents him going to the Jets and a few other teams but he could end up in Denver or even Arizona, two teams that are bubbling with talent but not quite near exploding with it. A couple of key moves and they could burst out.
Dunno.
Look at the Saints. Tons of talent - best QB in the league right now but they always run Reggie right into the pile and get nowhere. Dunno why that is - Haslett and Peyton have both done that now so I dunno anymore. It's just typical of the Saints - and they are just a stepping stone for talent anyway - I bet Duece goes to a really good team this year.

I'm still amazed at how well the Patriot organization can consistently find lesser known QBs who can step into the NFL when called upon and seemingly excel from the get go.......
Other teams draft those "highly touted, can't miss" college QBs that many times fall flat on their facemask.....
Hats off to the Pats' front office and scouts.......

Who was so consistently good before Brady? Their Super Bowl record isn't exactly pristine. That's two QBs out of how many years? A lot.
The closest team to your statement that goes beyond New England is the 49ers with Montana and Young. That was something. No team has yet to do THAT. NE has been good but they aren't that good.

New England had a Pro Bowl QB before Brady....Drew Bledsoe

Pro Bowler? Ha ha! Come on! That's weak. So did Michael Vick.

Bledsoe made the Pro Bowl in 1994, 1996, 1997, 2002...whats "weak" about it?
As for Micheal Vick, he is a very talented QB, who just happened to be a sick human being. Hopefully his time away from the NFL has given him time to work on that part of his life.

Jesus, Bledsoe did all that? I guess all I've remembered about him is how he fell apart and went to Buffalo.

Folks, I give you your NFL Defensive Player of he Year, James Harrison...he craps out Bolts because he's already chewed them up.

Maybe I was thinking primarily about Brady & Cassell, but the team is 2-for-2 in its last 2 QB drafts......with "unknown" players. Quite a few NFL teams would have loved to have had Bledsoe starting as well. I'm not a Pats fan, just a football fan who appreciates what other teams can accomplish....and NE has accomplished quite alot over the past few years. On and off the field.

Kind of like your guesses for who was going to win the wild card weekend? 25% seems a little far from spot on.

I guess it could be called Karma, but all of the bad calls against the Chargers all season were made up for on Sunday with bad calls for the Chargers in overtime. 3 defensive holding and 1 facemask on one drive? Come on. And yet there was no offensive holding going there at all was there.

I don't know how you arrive at that point,
when we reversed that karma of that universally agreed human error of Week 2, on the Week 17 vs. Denver... on the field.
That was where there was clear and decisive vindication, and it was sweet.
As far as Saturday's game, that ref was definitely flag-happy, but the first hold call (where Castillo gets horse-collared to the ground)
and the facemask (on Sproles) were CLEAR to the eye and blatant.
There's no controversy across the NFL over those calls.
..and Darren Sproles ran wild on a tiring Colts defense.
He and Philip Rivers and Mike Scifres beat the Colts more than anyone else.

I remember that play from 2006... LT missed his block when Harrison hop-scotched him.
oh....btw... SD won that game handily.
and we're 2-0 in playoff games when playing in Pittsburgh, so get ready to whimper into those Terrible Towellettes

actually, no. I think you're going to be the one whining on Sunday. You may be 2-0, but that luck runs out this year.
just sayin'...

Congrats to Harrison, but I thought Ed Reed should've won the award. That guy is crazy good.

Yeah, since those games happened in 1994 and 198?, I guess they affect the outcome of Sunday's game!
Hope your Bolts like 0 degrees wind chill and a little snow!
