Key West Wedding Advice
Hello everyone! I got engaged this weekend and my girlfriend and I are hoping to get married in Key West. We are obviously in the very introductory stages of picking a date and a place, etc. but I figured there were fellow Parrotheads out there who had either had their own wedding down there or had attended one. If so and you have any suggestions they would be welcome. Thanks in advance for the help!
I was in KW the last week of June. We were eating dinner at Schooner's Wharf. As we finished a boat came in to the dock with a wedding party. Then we saw the ambulence and police arrive. They were caught on the water in a bad storm that went through. The boat must have been tossed around because several of them were coming off in neck braces. I felt so bad for them.

A couple BNers got married at Mallory Square a couple years back. You might do a search and see some photos.
Nevermind. I found it: http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewto ... nt&start=0

You have to celebrate by going skydiving! My wife and I went last weekend- it was friggin' awesome. You jump out at Sugarloaf Key, MM 17. You're in and out in about an hour and they give you an edited video within 20 minutes after you're done.
You'll never forget it!

Weddings in Kdubs. Huh. They happen everyday. This little rock is actually the 2nd most popular U.S. wedding destination.
Alot of people get married on Smathers Beach. Some get married at Mallory Square. If you choose the latter be sure to PM me and get some advice on how to do it at Mallory --- since while it is not exactly illegal -- it is not exactly leagle at the same time.
Receptions there are a hundred places that will be glad to take your money and throw ya a party. There are a few places that will do it right.
We did ours at Capt Tony's. Kind of a makeshift wedding though.
there is a whole book dedicated to telling you why you should not get married in Key West. It is by a good friend of mine. Funny book.
If you to do decide on a Keys wedding PM me and I will to my best to get you pointed in the right direction. I do know a little bit about this tiny island believe it or not.
Personally speaking, If i were to ever go down that road again I would spend the money, do it right, and get married at Disney
Congrats !

When my wife and I were in Key West in 2005 we stayed at The Wyndham Casa Marina Resort. While we were there a wedding ceremony was held out back. There is a very large mainucured lawn peppered with palms and other tropical foliage - kind of a country club look. Of course it's on the beach. This is a very nice place. It's almost like a movie setting. It takes you back in time a little and reminds you of a place that may be closer to the single digit latitudes. And you have some privacy back there. The hotel guests were very respectful of what was going on. Of course there's plenty of room.
Check it out.

Advice . . . steal a boat off the East Street Pier and keep going south until she can't find you . . .
Seiously, congrats. Real Advice is just to take it easy and see what you want to see. Spend an afternoon at Louies then go back to the hotel and screw and take a nap then go drinking. Heaven!

My wife and I got married 5 years ago on June 28 at Ft Zachary Taylor. It was at sunset, although we had no sun (cloudy). Still a great time, and I wouldn't do it any differently. Being at the end of June, it will be hot and humid though. Also, since we've gotten married, the park service now charges to "rent" the spot where we got married. It was free, now I think it's $500. Good luck and congratulations!

We went to a friends wedding down there in January. We stayed at the Jasmine house ,,incredible. Were transported to the wedding by Trolley. sweet. The wedding was at Fort Zachary Taylor....beautiful and the reception was at the Conch Republic...food was out of this world.
The rehearsal dinner was on a catamaran out in the bay off Malory Square....does it get any better then that?
Here are some pics from the wedding....first is me and the wife at Fort Zachary Taylor where the wedding was held....yes I know she is way hot. Second is the wedding party at Fort Zachary Taylor 3rd is the bride and groom dancing at the conch republic.

I understand what both of you are saying.........IMHO.......Casa Marina doesn't have a "Key West" feel........I would check out Louie's Backyard....it's small but the food is really good and it's right on the beach....palmettopirate wrote:ragtopW wrote: "not for nothing.. And this is a good website with a big list of hotels, resturants and guesthouses......congrats and good luck......

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"
I recently stayed at the Casa. I got a really good rate. The hotel was nice after their renovation. The room was nice. Service was off and on. Restaurant was ok but we didn't eat much at the hotel (did a good job of cooking the fish we caught). It was cheaper to go to Blue Heaven for breakfast and the food was better. I would stay there again.

Got married in Key West in 2006. Sunrise ceremony on Smathers Beach. Highly recommend a company called EZ Weddings in Paradise. Peter and Sharon Estenoz are great to work with. They can help you make it as plain or as fancy as you want.
Conch Republic is a great place for a meal....of course, you could have the rehearsal dinner at Margaritaville!!!
